Fight Academy do have a 6 fight deal with Setanta. The Clinton Woods show is another show as part of that deal. Hobson remains as Hatton's UK promoter. Also Matthew Hatton fights on the undercard of the Woods show.

Sorry, but I'd rather see Oscar vs Hatton, or even Oscar vs Witter IN THE UK than Hatton vs Witter. I know it might be style over substance etc - but I don't care that would get Boxing back on the back pages far more.

Isn't Tyson vs Francis still the best selling UK PPV? It would be like that, but with a far more competitive fight... Don't get me wrong, Hatton vs Witter is a fight I would love to see and would be an event too - but nothing to the magnitude of DLH vs either of them.

well, Oscar's supposed to be the biggest fighter in boxing, so being an 8 round fighter is not so cool, is it? His fights are all boring and seldom match the hype.

I'd rather watch a great British match. Usually the British pride thing adds a great deal to all British fights of magnitude. The grudge match side of it, the fact that Witter and Hatton would refuse to lose to each other, the added intensity of both being proud world champions...this would elevate it to a level of intensity that few fights will match. Come on, this would be tremendous.

Whereas anything with Oscar is bound to be an overblown spectacle (as Tyson-Francis was though of course that was more freakshow). Ppl just turn up to see a name, rather than a fight, and this is something that bores the shit out of me.

Like you I don't want to see a washed up great come here and be the underdog. But for me I was far more up for a Tszyu vs Hatton than I would have been if Hatton vs Witter fought with a geniune world title on the line. Tszyu was an all timer and still "has it".... I'd put DLH in this category. If Holyfield catches Ibragimov and then comes to Wembley to face Skelton - now that wouldn't really appeal to me. But seeing a Mosley / DLH type fighter vs the Brits or Hopkins vs Calzaghe would appeal to me more than Witter vs Hatton or Woods vs Joe Cal.

Everyone knows I am a big DLH fan, but I do think your criticisms is a little OTT. From peoples posts on here, most seem to tip DLH to beat Hatton (not sure about DLH vs Witter), several people thought he beat the P4P number 1 - so he really should be in the P4P reckoning still himself.

Not saying DLH is perfect, but neither are Hatton or Witter - all have their flaws. DLH hasn't always been an 8 round fighter - ask Quartey or John John Molina. But yeah, okay his stamina is suspect now - fair call. But if he would be the betting favourite over both... surely your not insinuating he doesn't have a chance?

I love a great domestic fight as much as the next man, and I have always said that when ONE of these two were a world champion then I would have loved to have seen these fight... but if opportunity of a global event like a Mosley or a DLH vs either - then I would rather that.

Hagler vs Leonard, DLH vs Mayweather, Tszyu vs Hatton, DLH vs Hopkins.... loved the hype for the all... I am a sucker for it. I think events like this do better for the sport, and if they take place here - then fantastic. Tyson vs Francis - no sorry, freak show... Hearns vs Nate Miller - no sorry, that was a bit sad to watch. The legendary fighter has still got to "have it" and DLH is still an elite fighter.

From a UK viewpoint, IMO it's the biggest fight of the decade involving a boxer from Britain, and I'm delighted Skysports have bagged it. They've put far more into boxing than anyone else for years and have also tried to weed out the imposter titles to a degree.

I can't help it. I have an aversion for Oscar and can back most of it up. I just found the whole Oscar-Floyd thing incredibly dull. Somehow, it should have been better or more dramatic. When I watch these fights, there's some big fissure that makes me see the $ signs as much as the "substance" of the fight.

I don't think there's much that can match a big fight atmosphere in the UK.

Also, I'd hate to see Hatton go up to a silly (154?) weight for Oscar. Even in Manchester.
