Mark fights another Scotsman in Kevin Mckintyre in a British Eliminator and if he wins it then he will be pushing for a British Title fight. It will be a great fight between Mark and Kevin if it happens ,but I just fancy the power of Thompson against the experience of Anderson .
Cracking fight but I will put money on the Englishman if it does happen.
Good fight, and McIntyre will be an interesting test aswell.
Fast becoming a fan of Thompson, a refreshing attitude he has - but wouldn't mind him looking at the british title in 12 months time after the tough, tough fight he had last time.

I'm a great Kevin Anderson fan and had him down to win in the 7th. I've no doubt that he was miles ahead on points, but is Francis a warrior or what?
If any boxer deserves the title "Fearless" then it's Francis Jones. He just doesn't give up. If Kevin's movement hadn't improved under Bob Shannon then I reckon Jones may have caught him in the 7th or 8th as he was throwing so many back.
Francis Jones, you gave a proud display of real heart and determination against, in my opinion, a superior opponent, respect!!
Well said, yogi. Francis could not have given any more than he did. It was nice of Jim Watt to say that it "set a new standard for losing efforts".
It must be so dispiriting when a man is that bit better than you in almost every department...but Francis kept plugging away. Shame he couldn't see it through. I've always liked Anderson since I saw him on an undercard a few years ago...classy guy in victory.

Have you spoken to Francis, or Francis people, post fight Ian?
Hope he is doing okay, always a bit of a concern when Sky say he is not up to talking... although it was completely understandable. What a fight, what an effort.

Mutt should of finished him Mortal Kombat style when he had Ando down. I think Ando won't go above domestic.
I'm not Scottish and I thought that Anderson had fought his way back into the fight.
The stoppage was not lucky, Mutley was knackered and would have been lucky to see the finish, even without receiving those two "lucky" hooks.

Why is it when a Scottish boxer is talked about things all get dragged down to braveheart!!??? 8) ...why cant we all love eachother and eat haggis together!!...

8)

.
Its ok I'm not drunk, just joking!.
Seriously though Jones gave one of the bravest performances I've ever seen, his desire and fitness were unbelievable and he well deserves his nickname 'fearless'. I hope he's rightly proud of himself and not down at losing. It would be an insult to both men really to question Andersons chin, you could maybe wonder about his stamina, but having said that he threw so much at Jones its hardly surprising that he felt the pace after a while. Jones gave a phenomenal performance simple as that. As for Anderson I've become a big fan, always in a good fight and always gracious to his opponents after the fight... unlike his manager it seems who was rather disparaging in his recent comments of the fight it seems!....

Stevie Wood, Alis manager? Aye I'll cover that bet anytime. Dont know if the fight will come off cause Anderson is looking to fight very soon, so Thompson might miss his chance, but if he does get a crack, fair enough, cause he'll get pumped anyway. Once Ando claims the belt for keeps he will move on, leaving some interesting match ups for the british title. Lets wait and see, time will tell.

I dont know why guys are on here backing Thompson to beat Anderson? Look at this record, it aint impressive at all, fought no-one, but still only manages to stop 6 of them! He had a step up against the contender guy and got a beating. He aint anywhere near ready for Anderson

Ho, hang on there, that reply wasnt even aimed at you, so why are you spitting the dummy out? The "open your eyes" was a sarcastic comment to Kevo, cause he says I never post here unless Anderson has fought, it's my way of saying he's talking cack, and he would be better to get his facts right cause I'm a regular poster. Bring on Jennings, Thompson, and the rest.

Ok, maybe I was wrong. But 90% of your post concern Anderson, and you do show an obvious bias towards him.

Personally, I thought Jones should have been pulled out by his corner despite his sporodic success. He was taking a lot of shots. I thought I saw KEV step off at least once because Jones was hurt.
Which may sound ludicrous but I thought I saw it, sorry forget which round.

I really developed an affection for Jones in this fight, watching it - and it is a flawed comparison - but there was a just a little flavour of Moore v Jones a division up. Maybe it was just their physicalities.
Good luck to both.

Mutley's a puncher though, Ali and Jones aren't and they wobbled. He was lucky against Muttley though, Muttley should of finished him Instead he kept boxing his head off.
His stamina might be suspect too as he had to take alot of breathers after over throwing.
Your opinion doesn't count you have Scottish bias.
Ando was only a couple of points behind Mutt when they entered the 10th and had Mutt taken a knee to recover they would have been even on my card. People blow that performance way out of proportion imo and lets not forget the aim of the game is to finish your man befoer the 12th or do it on points if all else fails and if my memory serves me correctly Mutt was KO'd ;)
Who blows It way out of proportion? Only Scottish members have been saying It wasn't as one sided as made out before he stopped Mutt.
He was outclassing Anderson till Kev got the lucky stoppage.

A classic case of the crowd cheering and the atmosphere from Mutts fans etc swaying your decision. I poster my scorecard up somewhere after the fight and a short explanation of why I scored each round and it was based on what I seen....I didnt let the crowd etc cloud my judgement.
Mut tried his best to finish him off but just didnt have what it took im afraid :?

This was my card which I dont really think can be argued wih too much.....
Mutley went all out from the start and got the knockdown(it was a good couple of hooks, thats for sure) but you cant take that approach if you are expecting to go for the whole 12 rounds, he obviously under-estimated Kevs chin and heart and thought he could blast him away within 6(if he actually was expecting a long night then he was very foolish to throw power punches constantly).
My card was....
Mut---- Ando
rnd 1 10-----10
A tight first round with both fighters feeling each other out, I would have given it to Kev on cleaner shots landed but Mut did land a good shot that seemed to hurt Kev a little therefore I give it even
rnd 2 10-----08
Self explanitory, Kev goes down from a wicked two left hooks landing right on the sweet spot and does very well to get back to his feet, he showed great heart.Kev caught Mut with a shot that put him down but a tangle in the legs caused the ref to call it a slip
rnd 3 09-----10
Kev realises Mut's power but has a much better round finding some of the boxing skills that he usually shows in abundance, Mut was not hurt in this round but was certainly outboxed, he seemed to be going for the pot shots and Kev was picking him off.
rnd 4 10-----09
Mut has noticed that Kev has not fully recovered from the Knockdown as he is a little shakey when he is hit clean and he is very wary of that left hook(Kev has a cut which was cauded by an accitental headbutt), the left gets through a few times again.
rnd 5 10-----09
A bit more of the same as the last round, Kev is starting to Jab more but not getting through as often as he would like, Mut still throwing power punches and is breathing a little heavier than he should be by the end of the 5th round.
rnd 6 10-----09
Another round for Mut as he tries to swarm his man with power shots and gets through with a few more lefts but they are not as effective as the were early on, is he tiring? Muts looking a little fatigued at the end of the round, good round for Mut though,
rnd 7 10-----10
Mut just struggling to maintain the pace that was working so well for him so far and Kev seems to have fully recoverd from the knockdown in the 2nd. Some good stuff from both men but Kev is looking fresher by the end of the round.
rnd 8 09-----10
Kev is now showing the talent he showedagainst the tough Okine, he is a lot more alert and catching Mut with regular shots, Mut looks knackered and probably thought he would have put his man away by now, he is nearly out of steam.
rnd 9 09-----10
Clearly Kevs round, Mut is still looking fatigued but not totally out of the mix yet, Kev is starting to apply some heavy pressure mixed with a good array of shots, his stamina is looking to be his saving grace.
rnd 10 08----10 (thats the round score considering Mut had perhaps taken a knee to regroup)
Kev is looking the fresher and sharper of the two men and Mut is looking yet again to throw some big shots to try and finish it. Kev has realised now that Muts left hooks are not nearly as hard as they were earlier and drags him into a bit of a war. Kev counters a lunging Mut and has him hurt, he piles on the pressure with a shower of heavy shots and Mut is all over the place, eventually the ref has no choice but to step in and save Mutley from taking any more of these big shots. Kev wins by TKO
Thats pretty much how I summed up the fight, I was going by memory so I might have to watch the fight again and touch up that post a little.
I can understand why people thought Mut was miles ahead because he won so many of the early rounds, but imho I reckon had he had went down then got up in the 10th Kev would have finished him off either in the 10th or the 11th, he was never going to beat the guy at home with 3 home judges and a crowd baying for blood.
Wll done to Kev for showing all the tools and heart to get the job done and all the respect in the world to Mut who showed he can mix it with the top brits.

Oh so you were expecting me to give a different answer, ok but how many times do you want me to disagree and give an answer? My view is that Kev is a lot better than you give him credit for, and you still come back with the same answer, so I dont really see the point. We disagree, fair enough but you do KNOW that you are wrong deep down

Awesome fight. Kevin Anderson is a worthy champion, he has walked the walk and ducked noone. Good luck to him, as Mr McNeilly says, a classy guy in victory. This was in evidence after Mutley fight and also after fight with Francis Jones. To win the British and Commonwealth titles from a gym in a small town like , whatever the name of the small town he was in before Manchester was - is a great achievement, he must be a legend there.
As for Francis Jones - if boxers were rated for having heart alone, this man would be in the top one percent anywhere ! A fantastic effort mate, noone could have imagined you could give that much, you nearly did it but in the end it wasn't to be on that night. Jim Watt, Stujones, leforge, yogi, Mr McNeilly, Silkov and David Payne your assessments are to be applauded.
Particularly and Mr McNeilly for the heartfelt and uplifting comments which you have made in the press/ forum this last week or so. A gentleman and a scholar you are. The same can be said of Mr Watt.
Well done Kevin and well done Francis, you are two exceptional fighters. Good luck both!
