In November in Cardiff, there isn't a notable difference between 1 am and 1 pm anyway.

Do you honestly believe that Max? One great showing does not a p4p number 1 make. Calzaghe should have handed Bika his arse. And Ashira. And Salem. And Jimenez. And..... well, the list goes on and on. Yes, Calzaghe was great against Lacy. But his career is littered with worse performances than Floyd's win over De La Hoya.

So that means that there is going to be thousands of fans trying to get out of Cardiff at 3 in the morning. And no trains running.
It won't change the fact that Calzaghe is still going to sleep in this fight,Kessler will kick his arse

At least you can get actaully get a ticket for this and the promoters have not given all their allocation to 'friendly' touts who can screw their fans for as much as possible whilst they keep a clean face and get PR spin to the public.
What I want to know is if 3,900 tickets were sent to 'Team ?' and only them in the UK, how did so many touts, travel Agent and Ebayers manage to get so many to sell and the fans didn't?
Boxingchat is right, when the promoters do there job and make the best fights, we should be praising them not moaning. After all it's the promoters who buy the tickets and keep the fans in business....oh hold on....

Kessler is on the fringes of the top 10 or thereabouts as it is, if he managed to beat Calzaghe decisively he's surely top 5?

Kessler and Cotto are pretty similar in many ways so far in their carrers. Both have looked impressive so far (Kessler perhaps a little more so only losing 1 or 2 rounds his entire carreer) and both have been champions for some years now and both are unified champion of the major belts.
Both should also be ranked around 9-10 p4p currently.
If Kessler beats Calzaghe he should move up around #5.
If Calzaghe wins he should move from current #5-6 to #2-3.

It is great that over here you don't have all of the Hatton /Mayweather b%ll%cks just to get a ticket for the fight. It's a working man's sport, not bloody Wimbledon !!
But still doesn't make the idea of Cardiff in the rain at 4am any more appealing !!
You dannnnng right.

oscar and jeff lacy are not even in the same UNIVERSE, let alone galaxy!!
if joe convincingly beats kessler he will still settle in at #3 P4P (providing pacman wins 10/3)!! ohhh, wait a minute...i forgot b-hop, then again the taylor fights are on his recent credentials, so i guess i'll stick with joe at #3...
unlike kessler, who will barely crack top 10 P4P if he beats joe!!
Kessler is already top 10 - IMO on ring generalship and dominant wins vs world class opponents - and he'll easy be top 5 when he beats Calzaghe. He's beaten all Calzaghe's top contenders (except Lacy), he's won a unification, beaten a tough mandatory

yeah, I have him lower top 10. There's too many major fights upcoming to have a real stable p4p list right now.
Kessler's definitely more outgoing than Calzaghe. Great that he was willing to go to Oz to beat Mundine (with a bad back and very limited sparring to prepare for a tricky opponent) and that he's coming to Calzaghe's backyard.
Not sure if going to America will be the issue after Kessler beats him. Kessler turned down an HBO contract, let's not forget. I'd like to see him in Canada, the UK again or Germany as much as America. Wherever the top opposition is, that's where I'd like to see Kessler.
It seems Inkin and Brahmer are doing the brave thing and waiting for some of the titles to be vacated.
I just think that Kessler's straight hard punches and ability to use reach / get in and out of range will be the decider in a hard fight. I see Calzaghe doing a lot of reaching & not quite connecting if Kessler is able to keep him at bay early. When Joe starts reaching, he's no longer a punching machine; rather, he becomes a guy who looks like a lop sided, off balance southpaw.
Certainly, if Kessler beats Joe in his backyard, in unification, vs an unbeaten world champ, that qualifies as p4p stuff, for me anyway.

He did hand Bika his arse, Bika had no chance of winning that fight and he won 3 rounds at most. Ashira shoudn't of been chosen but he did beat that guy with one hand and won every round.
I didn't mention Lacy In my quote.

DLH was a belt chaser who beat on Tito victims and fought once In 2 years yet the supposed best In the world struggled. Taylor Is shit and Is a HBO poster boy who struggles with smaller fighters and lost to Spinks. Hopkins best wins are over Welterweights with limited skill like Tito and DLH who were just strong and had good chins. Plus Hopkins ducked Joe.
Use opposition Is being overrated.

Laughable Max. Go on then, tell us why Joe should be ahead of Pac as well?
No way was Bika "handed his arse", Joe might have won most of the rounds but looked horrible in doing so. Don't think Floyd has ever looked that messy

I didn't say they wouldn't beat those fighters. I said opposition Is overrated sometimes here.
I doubt Ouma and Spinks would beat Lacy and Bika at Supermiddle though, there light middles and one was a welterweight, while Bika and Lacy are natural 12 stone fighters. Manfredo hasn't shown his potential yet and we all knew Manfredo was nothing more than a money gimmick to hype Joe for America.
Wright should of easily beat Taylor and would be unsized at Super Middle and Light Heavy as shown against Hopkins.
Aren't some of those DLH wins debatable? I don't rate Vargas though, he lost when stepping up and just seemed to be strength reliant.
What did Joe have little to offer? He Is better than Tito and DLH and Hopkins wouldn't be beating on a little man this time. Yeah some of the lack of fights Is his fault too but most of those Joe has mentioned have probably ducked him.
Taylor's an HBO poster boy who should have some losses by now, he ain't that special. Spinks Is the true Middleweight champion. He'll beat Pavlik though because Kelly Is not a boxer like Spinks.
The names are big on those guys records but why do they count when most of them are moving up In weight and are blown up fighters or past their primes? When Joe does this he's slated but Hopkins doesn't get slated for beating on smaller fighters.
According to boxing fan logic Floyd shouldn't be p4p no 1.

some of you must have seen a lot more of Kessler than me as u seem to have some confidence in him. The only bit I saw was the stoppage over (was it Sturm??) i might be wrong but the German guy who I think was hanging up his gloves after that, might have been Beyer actually.
I don't think anyone on here is backing Calzaghe on the back of one good win against Lacy, I'm backing him on the strength of LOADS of good wins.
Say what you like but I think Kessler is boxing at a whole new level, whereas Joe isn't. It's like Joe once said about all those Americans who've come over here saying they're gonna do X, Y and Z - they all went home whupped......the only difference is Kessler's going back to Denmark.
His only chance is Joe's age but if Joe thought he couldn't beat the best out there anymore I think he would have packed up by now.

He outboxed Spinks 7 rounds to 5 In my opinion. Taylor only has a good jab. He'll have enough for Pavlik though.
Of course Oscar's comp Is better than Joe's, I don't deny that. Joe's fault too but not all the blame can be put on him even though I know your not saying that either. DLH never cleaned out a division though and does the typical belt chasing.
Calzaghe would lay a beating on Taylor, that I don't doubt. Hopkins lack of pace lost him the 1st Taylor fight. That said though he could of been weight drained as his body looks healthier at Light Heavy but still a good win for Taylor.

I have seen most of Kessler's fights as a pro and i make this a 50/50 contest. I have already stuck my neck out and backed Kessler to win. By the way it was Beyer you are referring to

Kessler KO'd him for the WBC belt i think on the same night Calzaghe laboured over Bika.

thanks for the info - personally i don't really think, as some seem to, that Joe had a bad night against Bika.
He was a very big, strong geezer, who came to spoil the party, he was fit as fire and did 12 rounds easy, and he wasn't one for getting intimidated etc...
you can't look good against 'em all and Joe was surely not going to stage a performance like his previous one (against Lacy) - no, for me it was a case of a win's a win.
Bika will beat some good boxers out there, just outmuscled him good, and experiences like that mould him into the fighter he is.....Joe ain't got to be worried about Kessler.
I know I said I haven't seen much of Kessler but I think fighters like Calzaghe are few and far between and I just can't see Kessler being good enough.
'Tis going to be an intriguing one no doubt - I personally am looking forward to this one more than I am that other big fight coming up.
