Just read Rob McCracken saying in my local paper that Eastman has only just arrived in England. However, he still thinks Howard will have too much for Elcock, even at 50 per cent.

I was at the last fight for both fighters and i'd give Wayne a chance, if he's is as fit as he says he is and keeps away from Eastmans bombs he should do it, I saw him the weekend and he looks well up for it, if Eastman is at 50% he will need a rocking chain, he has never been one for running around the ring.

Eastman, 11st 6lbs, stripped naked and needed a second trip to the scales to make the weight in Coventry this afternoon. Howard, confident as ever, came in at 11st 6 1/4lbs when he first weighed.
Elcock weighed 11st 5lbs, by the way, and hit the weight on his first try.

Whats the height and reach of both of these. Thats could be crucial as both are affective with the jab.

I can't see past Eastman winning this one...

If that's true what Tom_Podmore has read about what McCracken has said, Eastman is clearly taking this fight for granted, but even then I still have to side with Howard becuase of his experience. Remember how he nullified Richard Williams early then took over later and knocked him out.
I'm hoping styles don't clash, but Eastman has been more concerned with self-preservation than putting himself outside his comfort zone for a while now and Elcock doesn't always commit to his task if there's a danger of big punches coming his way.

Is there any way of watching this?
Is it going to be put on the internet at some point?

Also, as someone said, WTF are sky doing shoring us that Arce fight?
I am not going out of my way to watch that, Eastmann Vs Elcock is much better - bit great - but is is British Title FFS.
i fancy a stoppage as well.
a definite eastman win anyway.

Sounds like Howard has lost his hunger. I'm not surprised, he has been in the game a long long time. Too long perhaps.
A shame.

Well, nobodies career lasts for ever, and Howard had a pretty good one. Not quite good enough to be a world champion, but defiently one of the best British middleweights we've produced, and a terrific natural athlete.
Had he come over sooner and prepared properly the result may have been different.
Wonder whether he'll retire now, or maybe he'll go for a rematch with Elcock?

Not that surprised to be honest, Eastman has had a result like that coming for a while now, one that indicates it's time to hang them up.

Every fighter has his day. This result probably confirms that Eastman's career (well any significant part of one) is at an end. Always sad to see a quality fighter go out against an opponent that will not be quite as good as him. But that's the sad reality in boxing (the baton ultimately always gets passed on).
Eastman had a lot of natural ability and good power. It's a pity that he never became a world champ: he was good enough for one but not quite up to it when it mattered. I just hope he doesn't feel the need to carry on for whatever reason.

Well, Eastman has been asking for a loss like this with his more recent attitude to his trainer. Robert McCraken should have nothing to do with him. I don't know if he prepared better for the Williams fight - but he was impressive in that one... Rubbish vs Ashira (where he definately did most of his training away from McCraken).
If Eastman got some hunger back then I'd have little doubt about him winning a British title again.

With all due repect Stu, I always thought it a strange decision by Eastman to turn McCracken as a trainer, given that he had already beaten the guy and appeared to be a notch above him. From McCraken's point of view; he was a fledgeling trainer with a lot of prospects under the Hennessey umbrella who took on a more talented quality ex opponent. That never sat right with me because there was bound to be friction somewhere down the line that compromises McCracken's authority and respect.

It's not like Eastman can't be outworked and Elcock would certainly be capable of jabbing and moving to order all night.
I'm still surprised though as Eastman has the higher level of talent but it was on the cards that a listless performance would cost him eventually.
I wonder if it's the end or whether he'll do a Hopkins and move past Froch's division to LHW and get in the mix with the likes of Haymer, Oakey & Magee.
