Out of interest guys what channel were you able to see this fight. Setanta took it off the schedule on my freeview box because, according to their Customer Services guy, 'Sheffield city council insisted the fight be scheduled earlier, which meant that Setanta couldn't adjust their schedule'.

Yes mate cobblers. It was on Setanta 2, although they did first say the show would start at 11 and then changed it to 9.15.

good fight but unfortunately it just highlighted that the LH division is very poor, shame clinton wants fights against people who are 'past it' ... RJJ and tarver, but i wont begrudge clinton a few decent paydays.

please mr hobson, no more repeats for clinton, we dont want delislt, johnson or gonzales anymore, we wont even settle for hoye again, please find some new blood to challenge.

Yeah they said they couldn't shift the schedule because of the live golf on Setanta 1 (which is all you have on freeview). I think it may have been a last minute balls up with the promotion and Sheffield City Council, if what they told me is truthful.

Anyway great result that for Clinton given that he was out for over a year. Look forward to taking a look at the fight tomorrow.

you'll have to talk to the IBF for that. It's them who keep bringing on Gonzalez and Johnson. Woods has had an honest, hard career. He's gone up the ladder - British, Commonwealth, European - to hold a version of the world title and beat some top 10 opponents. He's had a fine British career and he deserves to cash in however he sees fit.

America won't really be interested in him - they've only seen him lose to Jones. Woods' place is in British boxing lore and to really get his place he should get a fight with Calzaghe. Whether Joe beats Kessler or not, he wants a light heavy belt. Woods' last 2 fights were very entertaining and I'm sure the Setanta viewers would LOVE to see these two battle - both men's promoters are with Setanta for multi-fight contracts.

Calzaghe's hardest fights have been with Brits - Woodhall and Reid, IMO - and this would be a terrific scrap.

he's beaten three top 10 ranked light heavyweights (Hoye, Gonzalez, Johnson). Don't forget, Mark Baker, Crawford Ashley and Ole Klemetson surely quality as "good" fighters, so I really don't see the sense in what you're saying.

There's been superb fighters between 168-175 pounds in Britain in the last ten or so years. Calzaghe, Francis, Woodhall, Catley, Reid. Woods has surpassed most of these guys.

Woods needs his IBF belt though If he doesn't fight these guys then he loses his belt.

I'm glad Magee and Oakey drew, because Woods vs either of those would have been an uninspiring match that probably would have been made.

I had the bout 116-112 to Woods. I think I had the first fight something like 117-111 Woods. Gonzalez was better in this fight - he was basically what we expected of him in the 1st fight. The Mexican kept clinching Woods' left arm so that he couldn't hook out of the clinch or - as he did in the 1st fight - shoulder barge Gonzalez back before following up with short hooks. Those tactics left Gonzalez fvcked and knackered in the 1st fight.

Woods seemed hurt to the body in rds 4 and 5, but he woke up and landed some cracking left hooks late on. In 10 and 11 he looked like he could stop Gonzalez, but Gonzalez had a good 12th.
