No with Maloney, have been for last 2 years. I beat Facey in my 2nd defence 4 YEARS AGO!!! Your right he's tricky, awkward, in shape and hits hard. But I'm a far improved fighter than I was then, and MUCH more experienced. It'll be a tough fight however long it lasts because nobody has an easy night with him, but the way I'm training, and with the added incentive of the European now, he's in trouble!!! Been on Boxrec fo a while now, always read the banter, keep it up lads.

Yes, some of my mothers family live in that part of the world and went to see them and I was with my girlfriend at the time, we were going to meet up at this restraunt in Manugua and my missus were advised by my uncle to take her rings and these massive earrings she had on off because 'the muggers here will cut your fingers and ears off'

I was there for 10 days, never went out at night and when I went out durng the day it was with a relative who knew where to go and what taxi's to get into. It was boiling hot, the place stunk of piss with dead dogs lying at the side of the roads (I was told there were corpses lying at the side of the roads in the rougher neighbourhoods but I never went to those places) and you could hear gunshots and people screaming. (as well as loud samba music played at full volume 24 hours a day)

Nicuragua was in a civil war just 20 years ago, it is place with too little money and too many guns and too many psychopaths who'll use them at the drop of a hat. There is a different concept towards the value of life
(ie: life is cheap)

I lived in Moss Side for 3 years on Parkfield Avenue off Santiago Street so itis not like I'm not in a position to make a comparison.

I can imagine why Mayorga turned out the way he did - Manugua and Nicuragua is one effed up place, I was chuffed to bits to get out of there!.

My old lady's family are from Peru and thats the same - I came away from those places feeling very fortunate that we live in this country.

My old lady is from Mollendo near Arequipa, but the family live in Spain
and in Jesus Maria in Lima! Jesus Maria is quite nice, but we went to La Victoria for some ceviche and that was a bit hair raising to be honest.

If you think there are worse places than La Victoria or Comas in the states then thats your perogative (though it would have to be questioned)but I can tell you now that there is no city in the UK that's anything like Lima and it is defientely nothing like Managua because I was brought up in Wigan and have lived in Manchester.

I would like to hear Phenonemal Nutritons view because hes a Brit who has lived in Peru (or visited at least)

I was actually born in Miraflores, lived in Magdalena (two blocks from the ocean) through most of my childhood, and moved to Monterrico when I was 10. My parents still live in Monterrico, right off Avenida Primavera, near the Gold Museum. As a foreigner, I'm sure you have been there.

I moved to the States when I was 18 but went back to Lima in my 20s to give it a new try. I was doing alright but then I got married, had a kid and financial priorities brought me back to the U.S.

I visit every year and actually bought a piece of land in Cieneguilla, where my wife and I wil retire, hopefully before we get burnt out by the all demanding U.S. live.

next time you go drop me a line and I'll sugest places where you can get great ceviche without your life being in danger. Not only is la Victoria ugly and dangerous but also the home of the despicable Alianza Lima.

I never encountered much violence in Lima but there was a great deal of poverty. The poorer people I encountered all seemed to be using none criminal ways to make ends meat. There were 5yo children trying to sell sweets, counterfeit CDs, 11yos trying to make money polishing your shoes.

Interestingly you would have money traders in quite poor neighbourhoods with £1000s that they were exchanging and you didnt ever hear about them being robbed. I was told people had a degree of honesty where they wouldn't steal from honest hard working people.

Yes I saw an occasional bag snatching and I was pick pocketed myself once. I hear in recent years there have been more organised gangs kidnapping westerners for money. Overall I think the people had more dignity than the people here. If they were criminals (and there were suprising few) they were doing it for money. There was no violence for the sake of violence that we have over here.

I did actually wonder round the some quite poor neighbourhoods, poorer market places quite allot. Which was insightful and inspiring to see how different people live.

Being white in Peru and other South American countries will make you stick out like a sore thumb especially in the middle to poorer areas. They will assume you are rich, not only rich you are the equivilent of a millionaire. Being white is also VERY attractive to the women there it is there ideal. So if you look half decent you are treated like a movie star and can get nearly any girl. Going round the market places I would have women gather round, stare and even wolf whistle, despite the fact I was with my ex-wife. Also a typical western man will be far taller than the typical malnourished Peruvian. At 6'0 I saw many few (out of 100000s) that were taller than myself.

I haven't been in a few years and apparently there is far less poverty now from what I hear. I think Peru is certainly a developing country that seems to building a good economy. I'm sure you can find violence if you goto the worst places in Lima and you can encounter crime but the same can be said for this country.

I wasn't a student at the time I'd just come out of the army and wanted to sample city life in the kind of hick way when you come from Wigan!

Parkfield Avenue is Rusholme but it is like a few hundred yards from Maine Road so it is the border - you are smack on in the description!

Yep you can't get away from the tap water and I wouldn't go to South America if not for less than 3-4weeks

There is an upside to walking a lot

It is a funny old road that one. At one end you are right in Rusholme and that is where the student houses are. They used to sell 'Mosside' teeshirts in HMV and people in lectures would be wearing one and you'd ask where they live. They'd tell you and I would say: "Rusholme then?".

If you can smell the hops you are right bang in Mosside

As for Mayorga, my experience is that the toughest blokes in the pub are the quiet ones. He protests too much.

Thats right... if you go up Great Western street past Claremont road... you end up at the McEwans brewery. Not that I went aroun there too often unless I had a chicken, rice and peas craving.

As for big gob Mayorga not being tough Tel - I'll let you tell him!
