Duddy-Pavlik set for Jan 26th!!!!

Pavlik has to start a heavy favourite...he's just beaten two of the best boxers in the division in sensational style. Duddy's not without a prayer though.

What interests me is now that Kelly has climbed the mountain, will he still show the same hunger and consistency as world champion ?

Duddy isn't even in the same league as Pavlik though, and where was Jermain Taylor's easy defence? I appreciate a lot of fighters have a relatively easy first defence but this will be like Calzaghe v Manfredo, a total mismatch and it could be over very quickly.

Duddy is going to be pounded into oblivion.

I suppose it makes sense from his point of view, from what I've seen he's not going to stay unbeaten much longer, with a style that calls for him to be hit hard and often - why not cash in while he's hot and pick up a nice payday.

I reckon that is far from certain to be honest. Would fancy Sylvester and Asikainen over him and don't think he is all that far above the Lockett's and Elcock's if at all

Amen to that, he wouldn't beat a lot of top tier fighters and now he's getting in with the world's best middleweight...

I understand it's Pavlik's first defence but give me a break, this will be a massacre. Hyped to hell as well....

Pocket rocket - I admire your patriotism but you would have Terry Wogan to beat David Haye if it was to happen.... :)

Even a decent fight will bring life back to Middle..people alledgedly started hanging themselves during Taylors reign, it was dull and he didnt want to fightt......

Now you have Two who want a tear up..Pavlik will more than likely win BUT a good performance by Duddy puts him at the top table!!

Elcock & Lockett would destroy Duddy, I would put money on Mackln beating Duddy as well, Duddy is way over hyped, Campas had him all over the place and he is well past his best days in a ring, what would a younger figher do to him, he takes to many shots.

Its a wasy defence for Pavlik who will KO Duddy in 3 rounds.

Pavlik does have defensive holes and Duddy has got good punch delivery...

But I see Pavlik overwhelming him and simply sticking out a long jab to control Duddy before dropping in bombs that should end the fight.

I hope Duddy makes it exciting while it lasts to ensure he goes up even in KO defeat.

Ironically, it would have been seen as a great win if Pavlik has beaten him at the beginning of the year. But Kelly's come on a mile in 2007 and probably deserves an easy outing after Zertuche, Miranda & Taylor.

Looks like Sergio Mora won't be getting a shot any time soon - he's just a fringe contender and was held to a shitty draw the other night.

I don't think Duddy can win this fight, but if its a pay-day for him, he may as well go out on against one of the best around. It was a good ride while it lasted for John.

Duddy has been very well managed. He's only really a Euro level fighter, but he has enough of a following for this fight to make good business sense whilst still being a reasonably credible fight. I see Pavlik winning by stoppage for sure, but it should be an entertaining battle while it lasts, and I wouldn't say it's out of the question that Duddy will give him one or two problems. Does anyone know how they match up height and reach wise?

He was supposed to fight Ouma, what happened to that? He'll fight another no mark and carry on doing that for 2/3 years.

At least Smith got in with sechew Powell and had a go. Mora is fighting nobodies....he's only had 2/3 fights in 2 years?

Duddy will do well to last three rounds with Pavlik. Somebody like lockett is way more deserving of a shot, but he doesn't bring cash or exposure to the table.....
