Exactly, they must be sure he is shot to bits to be making this one. Let's not count our chickens yet though, injuries can be the curse of the fight game.
This is what I've been thinking. Have they had word that he's looked shot in the gym since, has his balance or punch resistance left him?
If not, then this is a very risky fight, and even a shot Earl may land a humdinger which lands Khan in la-la land.
From what I have been told Graham Earl is really up for it and well over the Katsidis fight which was the hardest of his career -Anyone who thinks he is shot after that fight is in for a surprise - Graham is on top form and wants nothing less than a KO win over Khan - I dont usually bet on anything but I am definately going to for this fight, Earl to KO Khan by round 7.

For all Khan's flaws (chin, technique) he's going to be way too fast for Earl. He has that speed that allows you to zip around an opponent and overwhelm with athletic ability. is Earl as good a punch picker as Limond? He hits harder, fights harder, but doesn't pick shots as well & probably isn't as well schooled. Put it this way. Khan is bigger, faster & more talented (though not as tough) as Vanzie...
After taking flush shots from Katsidis & Romanov, surely Earl is faded.
I agree, the matchmaking with Khan has been very protective. Limond, Bull and Lawton just cannot punch. But they wouldn't take this fight if he was going to lose it, so he is not going to lose.
Khan is going to pick up a world title, perhaps with a surprise win in a couple of yrs' time over a lightweight or light welter, have some easy defenses to grow into the belt and then gets knocked out when he has to fight a hard hitting challenger.

Khan is not bigger than Vanzie, taller but thats about it.
Faster yes, but not a controlled fast - more like a little kid on speed.

Vanzie had better timing, use of angles, footwork over Khan. Khan has better stamina, overall size, height, reach, workrate.
BUT VANZIE WON 9 ROUNDS EACH FIGHT AND DIDNT GET TAGGED
Khans offense is being underrated. The 1 punch power isnt amazing, but it is good. The sheer attrition and numbers of painful shots he lands breaks opponents down and puts them in a shell.

The ones who come to survive are not going to fight back, but the ones who come to win will counter and chin him.
imo

fair play to Khan - Earl is a tough, tough man. I reckon he may beat Khan providing that unbelievable fight with Katsidid hasnt took to much out of him.
Come on Graham, do it for Luton!
