well that was a turn -up but in hindsight should any of us really be surprised?
Anderson had to dig deep to see of Francis Jones last time out and as soon as the fight was announced I though it was very soon ( any anoraks happen to know the shortest periods between Brit title defences in the modern era...that one must be up there).
An excellent moment in Mcintyre's life he'll always have that now, and taking nothing away, but those who say he was sparkling etc really need to ask "what did he have to beat exactly?" .......not that he'll give a toss about that and rightly so.
I am surprised that people with so much experience of boxing can produce these apparent blunders. Jim Watt was dead right when he said the body may have had a rest after a week but the mind needs time to come back down, leaisure time, at home with the kids etc......"
These title fights from what I've seen can be all or nothing affairs sometimes where fighters lay it all on the line, I think had Anderson gone away and had a proper break after the Jones fight, eat a few pies, have a couple pints, that kind of thing......then start training camp with some obvious work to do, he would still be British Champ. But when you've been in training 10 weeks then have a war then week off then then 6 more weeks of training when you're already in great nick...it's getting on for half a year for goodness sake.
Anyway it's fantastic news for Macintyre.
That's my thoughts anyway.
I tip Anderson to regain his old title (Brit) in 2008. Also, does anyone know...would winning it back win him the belt outright , or would he have to win it then make a defence (making it 3 defences in total) OR, do the 3 defences all have to be in a row?

I asked a Board official the same thing last night at the fight. I would put money on a rematch, perhaps at Paisley Town Hall or Fife Ice Rink, early next year. I reckon Tommy Gilmour & Barry Hughes could sell it out easily.

Finally saw the fight last night, and what an excellent exhibition of "hit and not being hit" by McIntyre. You won't get too many more clear cut wins than this one. He handed out Anderson a boxing lesson.
Back to the drawing board for Anderson. Personally, I think he bolted too fast after the Numbembe loss. For me, he won the fight anyway, so no need to panic and switch camps. Sometimes it just takes time to iron-out your faults. At 24 time is very much on his side, and just look at the quality on his resume. Very few easy fights there, so he's had to be on his game nearly every time. That's a lot to ask of someone.
Congratulations to McIntyre, he certainly looks better at Welterweight and boxed beautifully all night.

Ryan Rhodes won a Lonsdale belt (3 wins) in 3 months. As for the last post about McIntyre vs McNeil I undersatnd Mcneil brike a leg in training in 2 places a few months back...he could be sidelined for a while I think.
