I think your not human if you dont admired the French, Italian and Brazian anthems - all brilliant with the French probably just tipping it.
Have to say sorry to my Scottish cousins but "Flower of Scotland" is as they say in Embra "pish" and I also dont like GSTQ but that one is for personal reason!

Agreed, I remember watching a Japanese tape of an old Wilfredo Gomez defence in Japan, and the camera closes in on their faces as the Japanese national anthem plays, and fades into the Japanese flag....makes the hair on the back of your neck stands up. Just brilliant, and you could almost imagine it had been written for a big time boxing event - or gladiators going to war.
Not so dramatic when it's for the Japanese ref though.

the words sound like something a tin pot third world dictator would write about himself.
its supposed to be the `NATIONAL` anthem, not the house of windsor (or saxe coburg-gotha`s ) anthem.
unless you are a rabid royalist who listens to funeral marches in your spare time there`s no way that thing will fire you up before a sporting event.
why doesnt one of these politicians who claim an average of £148,000 in expenses alone, never mind wages, have the balls to bring this question into the public domain.
if we had a referendum on it i think over 80% would say ditch it.
its sad to think a country that gave the world some of the greatest writers, poets and musicians can only come up with that syncophantic rubbish.
btw, i think the welsh national anthem is probably the best in the world and flower of scotland is pretty good too.
good point!
I bet the queen doesn't give two hoots about any of our fighters.
Rule Brittania!

It is a bit of a crappy anthem - God, please give this one person a long life and make sure when she pops her clogs she up in heaven.
Doesn't matter if you treat us like shite - aslong you look after her, we'll be happy.

Its not the actual words of the song i dont think ..its the actual proudness of the individual serving his country the best he can !! The national anthem of any country regardless the words will just stimulate the individual who is representing the thing he or she has dreamed of .
God save the queen maybe a terrible song in many peoples eyes but how can you feel that before england played australia in the rugby world cup. I feel if you are representing england at any sport at international level inspiration maybe what you need
