Haye's got all the attacking ability to become world HW champ, but his defensive and chin flaws will leave him vulnerable at top class at HW. My guess he will win most, but lose a couple by KO. He can win a HW title but I dont think he'll make many defences. It is exciting though, Haye is the most exciting fighter since Benn. His performance against Mormeck was very good, despite his frailties being exposed again. Great win against one of the best ever CW champions

I'm so glad of the emergence of David Haye.

At last we have someone with charisma, talent & balls & a fighter who is willing to go after the big guns in order to prove his worth.

We've had too many fighters who like to cling onto worthless trinkets (like the WBO belt), stay in their backyards & fight useless bums & demand that the world respects them.

Haye has gone to the mountain & gone after the biggest fish in his division & knocked him out.

He's now going to do the same at HW & I salute him.

I'd love him to KO Danny Williams, Michael Sprott, Audley Harrison & Matt Skelton, because I am sick to death of the lot of them, boring me to tears with endless dud fights.

When Haye has done this, then he can go after the big HW fish & then we will see if he is the real deal.

David Hayes 2008 should be..

Michael Sprott - test the heavy waters with an experienced fella whos mixed in at euro & world class and can punch a bit.

Audley Harrison - good PR move, become a name with the british public by sparking Fraudley and bringing the curtain down on his non-career

Danny Williams - another good PR Move, the man who beat Mike Tyson and if Haye is world class he should be able to beat Fat Dan

Then either the euro belt or if hes still around Skelton, a good move if Haye wants to experience a big strong heavy mauling him.

3 12 round heavyweight fighters and 1 guy with a big name decent pop but not too much confidence, chin or dare i say it talent.

I think Audley's a horrible fight for Haye.

Audley's got nothing to lose. If he showed up the way he did against Williams the second time then anything could happen. Audley still has all the tools in the world and with nothing to worry about he'd have everything to gain.

Add to that, Haye and Audley have sparred together, I'm sure they're aware of each others capabilities.

Stop mentioning Sprott/Williams/Harrison/Skelton. A loss against any of them would be devestating. Haye doesn't need to end up in british boxing's heavyweight graveyard, not if it can be avoided.

I'm not saying he wouldn't beat all of the above but for the love of god why bother going down that route?

If they were household names in the UK and beating them would get him some exposure then great, but they aren't. Bad News. Avoid.

Haye has escaped FW's clutches at Cruiser... I do not think he will be happy to get into the British or C'Wealth title mix if his position as WBA/C Champion can get him a rating straight off the board.

Exactly, why fu*k with a plan that worked at cruiserweight.

He needs to follow the same formula. Take the fights that get him to the top in the quickest fashion. It doesn't matter how many ill-meaning cu*ts poke fun at the choice of opponent, if they get him to where he wants to be then fu*k it, that's all that matters.

The current british heavyweight scene has no relevance to the bigger picture at heavyweight. Maybe it should, but it doesn't.

Wasn't Skelton due for a shot at one of the belts? Oh, that's right, there's no escape from the graveyard, you can try, but once in, never out.

The hapless F rank Warren promised Matt's mother that her unborn son would get a shot at the HW title in about 40 years, but as yet, no title shot for poor Matt!

Isn't sprott unattached now? I thought it was why he has been travelling and fighting the universum lot. I think Haye would quite like to win a longsdale belt at HW (I just get the feeling he is a traditional guy and would have liked not to have gone from english to European titles at Cruzer) thats williams which as has been mentioned also has the "guy who beat harrison" title. Other than that fornicate the other brit guys Harrison is doing, or not doing his own thing, add to that he is a southpaw has spared with haye and is 6 ft 7 or something stupid, Skelton will never win the european title which frank knows he will get a world shot and loose. Nice guy I hear but it isn't happening for him.

I know you mollify your criticisms in the rest of your post, Carbo, but I really do think you are being harsh on the lad.

Apart from shipping a couple he shouldn't have done, it was a very good performance against a battle hardened (but perhaps slightly overdone) champion.
