I'd guess Woods around Easter, B-Hop, Froch (by then a world champion in his own right) and some form of goodbye fight at the Millenium Stadium in Cardiff.
On the subject of Woods/Calzaghe - I'm drooling but, as a proud Yorkshireman but career long Calzaghe fan, somewhat conflicted. I can't really see Clinton winning it but I think it'd be a hell of a fight. Woods would drag Joe into a tear up, and whilst Calzaghe would land more blows, his failure to set himself combined with the Yorkshireman';s greater natural size means that Woods' would hurt more. I'd even imagine JC hitting the canvas before pulling away to a points win.
Woods-Calzaghe "in talks"
I don't think with his hands he can be much harder hittingAutobarn wrote:An interesting question will be, will Joe really be even better at light heavy? Do 7 extra pounds make him fitter, faster, stronger and harder hitting? Or does he lose some mobility, and feel the strength of bigger men, at a bigger weight?

Agreed, I felt at times against Kessler that he was almost hesitant to let his hands go.josh fg wrote:I don't think with his hands he can be much harder hittingAutobarn wrote:An interesting question will be, will Joe really be even better at light heavy? He broke them against Manfrado and didn't even hit him with anything, I think that could be a problem against a rough type LHW fighter. He hasn't legitimatly KOed anyone since Veit 6 foghts ago, another reson I think he would be better off fighting Hopkins who he can have in a tactical battle and his workrate will beat.Dirk Kelly wrote:Agreed, I felt at times against Kessler that he was almost hesitant to let his hands go.josh fg wrote:I don't think with his hands he can be much harder hittingAutobarn wrote:An interesting question will be, will Joe really be even better at light heavy? If Woods couldn't be stopped by Jones in his prime, there's absolutely no way Joe could stop him if he did still have the power from the Veit fight.
Suppose the fight may be stopped by the ref, but I'd doubt it. Woods ain't Manfredo. Joe will just outwork him.
I hope he keeps his hands up, unlike at time against Kessler. Sure it looks exciting for the average fan, but when you're a Brit watching it you almost brown your trollies when he was getting chinned by Mikel

Dull dull dull...2nd rate fight for a so called superstar.
Clint always comes up short against the elite and will so again. Proves nothing for Joe, and I doubt he's too interested in this fight at all.
If Frank insists on another B level domestic fight for him, they should let Froch have a crack. Much better fight.

Always come up short? Losses against Jones and Johnson are no disgrace.MightyWarrior wrote:Dull dull dull...2nd rate fight for a so called superstar.

Johnson is not an elite fighter, nor is Woods.Dirk Kelly wrote:Always come up short? Losses against Jones and Johnson are no disgrace.MightyWarrior wrote:Dull dull dull...2nd rate fight for a so called superstar.

In the Conteh, Braxton, Gregory and Franklin era, Clinton would have been a good 10 round international Light Heavy, but thats it.
Bad fight for Joe, proves nothing, I would rather see him fight Dean Francis.
Anyway, before anyone gets too excited/upset, talks are only in "very early" stages and other fights are being considered.
Even in the classic '80s era tough triers like Eddie Davis were able to give the likes of Michael Spinks a run for their money and Dwight Qawi 1 of the fights of his life.
Woods can rise to the occasion and give Joe a great fight.

Hopkins will skit around the ring & do anything to avoid contact...Woods is a good, solid grind-em-down artist & proven himself vs Hoye and Johnson with strong finishesTwinkle Toes wrote:What on earth are you wittering on about.Autobarn wrote:Whatever way you spin it, Calzaghe-Hopkins is a crap fight.
Calzaghe-Woods is a physical fight.
what do you think I mean?

What a load of tosh, i couldn't give a shit what belt he has on him Clinton Woods is the same bloke who got beat by David Starie, banged around by Jones and soundly beaten twice by old man river.Autobarn wrote:Hopkins will skit around the ring & do anything to avoid contact...Woods is a good, solid grind-em-down artist & proven himself vs Hoye and Johnson with strong finishesTwinkle Toes wrote:What on earth are you wittering on about.Autobarn wrote:Whatever way you spin it, Calzaghe-Hopkins is a crap fight.

Hopkins, is, well i dont need to continue
Take away that belt of his and Woods drops below Frotch and up until last week Robin Reid in the list to fight Calzaghe
