On the woods fight I think skill wise Woods wins but it may be that Clinton has a greater power and Calzaghe's problems with his hands would mean that he wouldn't be able to get Clinton out of there.

An interesting question will be, will Joe really be even better at light heavy? Do 7 extra pounds make him fitter, faster, stronger and harder hitting? Or does he lose some mobility, and feel the strength of bigger men, at a bigger weight?

I don't think with his hands he can be much harder hitting

Agreed, I felt at times against Kessler that he was almost hesitant to let his hands go.

Agreed, I felt at times against Kessler that he was almost hesitant to let his hands go.
He broke them against Manfrado and didn't even hit him with anything, I think that could be a problem against a rough type LHW fighter. He hasn't legitimatly KOed anyone since Veit 6 foghts ago, another reson I think he would be better off fighting Hopkins who he can have in a tactical battle and his workrate will beat.

If Woods couldn't be stopped by Jones in his prime, there's absolutely no way Joe could stop him if he did still have the power from the Veit fight.

Suppose the fight may be stopped by the ref, but I'd doubt it. Woods ain't Manfredo. Joe will just outwork him.

I hope he keeps his hands up, unlike at time against Kessler. Sure it looks exciting for the average fan, but when you're a Brit watching it you almost brown your trollies when he was getting chinned by Mikel

Dull dull dull...2nd rate fight for a so called superstar.

Clint always comes up short against the elite and will so again. Proves nothing for Joe, and I doubt he's too interested in this fight at all.

If Frank insists on another B level domestic fight for him, they should let Froch have a crack. Much better fight.

As domestic fights go it's A-level. Both are champs. Calzaghe is champion of his division and Woods is a world class light heavy with a belt. It's a good fight.

Johnson is not an elite fighter, nor is Woods.

In the Conteh, Braxton, Gregory and Franklin era, Clinton would have been a good 10 round international Light Heavy, but thats it.

Bad fight for Joe, proves nothing, I would rather see him fight Dean Francis.

Anyway, before anyone gets too excited/upset, talks are only in "very early" stages and other fights are being considered.

Even in the classic '80s era tough triers like Eddie Davis were able to give the likes of Michael Spinks a run for their money and Dwight Qawi 1 of the fights of his life.

Woods can rise to the occasion and give Joe a great fight.

Personally Calzaghe v Hopkins is not a fight I'm too fussed about.

I've been a fan of Hopkins for a long time but he could not beat Jermain Taylor in 2 attempts. The Antonio Tarver win didn't prove a thing, Tarver did not show up.

Calzaghe v Pavlik is the fight I'd like to see.
