Calzaghe turns down GBP Hopkins offer.

Pretty sure the Hopkins fight will be made once the cash is sorted out - Woods may not excite the Americans all that much but my bet is they will still buy it - Two weight world champ is too good to miss out on and a fight with Hopkins with Joe as the holder of the LH belt is a pretty tasty fight.

Great! So it now looks like Hopkins & Woods are out the window as possible opponents for Joe. Where does Calzaghe go from here?

Anyone else get the feeling Calzaghe's next fight will not happen anytime soon? Options are running out. I realise money is highly important for a fighter who says he's only boxing twice more, but will he receive a bigger offer for fighting someone else than B-Hop?

Personally, I'd like to see Calzaghe-Dawson at LHW. Again, not sure whether there's enough money in the fight to be made!

Allegedly needs to get a move on, because before we know ehre we are, it'll be the end of 2008, Calzaghe may have only fought once, & things would not have gone according to plan.

I reckon there's money to be made in Calzaghe-Pavlik, but with that won't be happening until next summer at the earliest. Why not box Froch in the meantime?

Calzaghe is a great boxer but things never seem to go smoothly with him when trying to make fights. What's happening, allegedly?

Dawson is fkking huge, strong, fit with little renown in the US PPV market - where all the money is - Joe would be appreciated by the hardcore fans but mad, financially, to take that fight.

Hopkins, Jones, Tarver and Taylor/Pavlik would be his order of preference for his next fight - the fella wants to earn. And I don't blame him now, he's 36 with fkked hands.

Senior tour makes money with managed risk.

Fighting the likes of Adamcek, Erdei, Dawson, Froch and Woods - offers more risk and less return.

Any fool can see that can't they?

A high risk fighting Froch and Woods.

Woods would beat Froch as well but Woods gets hit with some awful shots like In the 3rd Johnson fight. He beat Gonzalez clear but he didn't need to brawl that guy and get hit that bad, he could of clowned Gonzalez as Woods has solid footwork and counter punching.

Froch would just get Lacy'ed, I've said enough reasons why.

What makes you think that, given that there were what, 40,000 people there, the gate alone would habe been enough to pay Calzaghe more than 1.75 million.

calzahge has been so well paid for 1 of 2 big fights that no one else can afford him. he even moaned about not getting paid great money for lacy, when he whole career's credibility was on the line.

joe will join the seniors tour. only if the money is right. how exciting and how credible.

Interesting tp see how many of your 8845 posts are about the amateur game, considering your obvious distaste for the business of boxing....

and who on earth are the Petersen brothers? and since when was Pavlik anything to get excited about?
