yeah, Ricky's aggression was ultimately made for Floyd. Made Floyd come up with something special, i.e. that left hook that came when Floyd pivoted off the ropes. Great punch.

Brave performance from Hatton. Now he can get on with his career at his proper weight. I thought it was a bad idea moving up to 147 again, but I dd get caught up in the pre fight hype with a belief in Ricky's speedy aggression.

The best man won the fight, but was a bit out of order that Cortiz went over to PBF's corner after one round and told them that he had warned PBF several times about using the elbows and forearms. So what happens... the next round comes along and PBF does more of the same and the ref just lets him get on with it!

WTF is up with this prime guy and his continual racism?! :-?

Hatton has got away with all sorts of stuff in UK. I knew he would be beat when he took on a peak opponent in the USA.

Prime should be banned. Where are the administrators?

Rooney is right, too.

I dont think Cortez cost Ricky the fight but he was bloody awful and messed up the flow of the fight. The most generous assesment you could make for Cortezes refereeing is that it was 'hysterical' ...a cynic though would be pushed to say that it was rather biased in the extreme.

Cortez was on the payroll and he wasn't even making it subtle.

He was down about 5-6 points going into the 9th. 89-81 twice, 88-82. That point had no effect other than mentally hurting Hatton.

Cortez is bent, simple as that. Ricky lost and would have probably lost anyway but watching Cortez earning his bribe was sickening.

Don't blame the ref.

If they fought 10 times, Mayweather would win 10 of them.

Mayweather is on a different level to Hatton..

It was only the OTT hype in Britain that made so many people think that Hatton stood a real chance IMO.

Cortez was a disgrace... He looked like he was taking money from somebody!!

Mayweather was the better fighter - no doubt about, he would have won regardless...

However, Hatton didn't need to fight that disgrace of referee Cortez, he had enough on his hands with Mayweather...

Not that he'd ever come to Scotland but if he did - Cortez would most certainly not be welcome.

Dave Parris can't ref every one of Hatton's bouts now..

i didnt think the ref did that much wrong, hatton wasnt even working on the inside he was just holding.
the point was justified imo, although it didnt land mayweather was through the ropes and defenceless and ricky tried to hit him on the back of his head, it was too blatant for the ref to let it go.
everytime he was on the way in floyd stunned ricky with sharp shots, ricky spent most of the time in the clinch recovering not working.
hatton looked hypnotised to me, he didnt try and get his body attack or his lateral movement going, he just froze.
if they fought 100 times floyd would win the lot, and i`m a hatton fan.

Cortez this and that - excuses here - excuses there.

B*llocks - as stated on the other thread to the BETTER FAR BETTER man - no shame in that Ricky Hatton and anyone else can still legimately call him a world class boxer and Ricky still has some huge fights out there.

But get over this excuse syndrome - and the buts and the ifs.

Hatton lost to the better man.

The ref was a disgrace. However I'm in agreement with many here that Hatton lost to the best fighter on the night. Don't think a different ref would have mattered to the result.

He did get effing on my tits when he went to Hattons corner after the 8th and was warning them he was going to stop the fight, while Billy was trying to gee Ricky up. Knew from then it was only a matter of time.

What was with the hugging, picture taking etc betwen Mayweather and Cortez at the end, that did look well dubious. Could you imagine for example a ref between Man U and Arsenal letting Man U away with murder and penalising Arsenal for the same sort of stuff, then at the end Fergie walks on and hugs the ref, gets his pic taken etc, there would be uproar and I doubt if that ref would ever ref in the top flight again!

Show me where any Boxing rule book specifically states that dryhumping is a legal tactic?

Remember, when you support the guy doing it, it's mauling, when you don't support them, it's holding. No joke, Hatton tried to be Ruiz at times last night. Other times when he tried to punch before holding, he was doing well. Once he got into the "hold first" mentality, Floyd too it to him.

Hatton was always going to come under fire from an away ref for holding, when it comes down to it.

Being that it was a big event, there's more pressure on the ref, especially when 1 guy has a mauling style and the other guy likes to turn his shoulder in, cock his elbow and push you off to get space. Pressure's on and the ref is forced to make his choice, and ti just happens.

It did hinder Hatton, and Cortez was breaking them crazily quickly - at 1 point while Hatton landed a decent right uppercut - but you have to deal with what you are given. Floyd was just better, and was always going to get him when there was a space.

Good to see Floyd open up in those aggressive bursts. He often cruises in fights, but it's good to see ability like that, the speed and accuracy.

I think Cortez affected Hatton but I think Mayweather would have found a way to win whatever happened. He jut has too much in the locker.

Hatton gave his all and was ultimately stopped because, unlike Judah and Baldomir for example, he never stopped trying to win. Mayweather is a step above everyone out there but I think it's wrong to suggest Hatton was outclassed, as I've heard some saying. Gatti was outclassed. Hatton was simply beaten by a better man.
