My take on this is - there is no way I would boo any countries national anthem -

However - Vegas, Golden Boy and co knew what they were getting when Hatton is rolling into town with his fans -

On the flip side of the coin - lots of money spent, the brass over there would have been shagged sensless, the place would have been drunk dry, lots of memorabilia sold, a fantastic atmosphere etc etc etc

The Americans cannot have all the cake!!!

they were genuinely shocked by it, because no other country acts like it. it's easy to think it is normal when you are british, but it isn't. from the outside looking in, it is a fornicating disgrace.

My personal view is that I agree with you - but I honestly believe we are in a politcally correct world that has gone f*cking nuts.

British fans in Vegas have their uses - mainly money and atmosphere they bring - we cannot then complain over the top about the bad points.

The fact is Hatton is the worlds best fighter at 140 he ran out of people to fight there was nobody in the world left to fight. He tried once before to move to 147 and did not have much luck he did win the fight but he decided to go back to 140 where he should fight.

Vegas relies a lot on the Brits going there and throwing their money away on the tables and fruit machines etc... also Americans themselves can be quite obnoxious when they are in other peoples countries, so to be so peeved over a few booing Brits is rather silly imo.... nice to see em getting some of their own medicine for a change I think!...

Nobody ever talks about the money they spent or any of their other actions during the time they were there. It is almost as if booing the anthem is more directed at an entire group of people and not just the fight or the fighters.

Hatton is the best fighter in the world at 140 his moves to 147 have proven not to be the best career moves. Is there a big payday for him left at 140 though this is a business he is trying to make money at the same time. I would have loved to have seen a Gatti Vs Hatton fight now that would have been exciting.

so you didnt watch the fight and didnt see what we are talking about. you also didnt hear the american commentators condemning it and didn't hear hatton speaking out on it.

But it is banter, theres nothing malicious behind it. Had I been there myself I wouldnt have booed because I think it is childish, but what you have to realise about many British men is that after they have a few beers they can be a little childish and blow of steam, its in the natinal character I think. But to make such a big thing of it and be so offended is just silly. I'm glad that the press isnt making a big thing of it.
As for Mayweather he's just selling tickets when he plays up to his bad guy image, its a shame that he cant sell tickets on his talent alone because he is the best boxer since Leonard and should be appreciated, ...he's going to be missed if he doesnt fight again...
