900k is a huge number but it is feasible.

Remember the sky subscriber base has grown significantly and now numbers about 9m households. To give you an example of disposable income, well over a million of those households pay for sky in more than one room. So it is possible - and certainly there was a huge buzz about this fight in the week running up to it.

If you'd asked me two months ago I'd have guessed about 350k, if you'd asked me on the night I might have said 500k....900k is huge and Ricky would have taken a big chunk of that if true.

The amounts Ricky and Joe have made over the last couple of years - Ricky from tv, Joe from live gates, is pretty impressive.

At the same time, British champ level fighters are probably earning less than any time in the last ten years.

900,000 sounds absolutely huge! Im no maths whizz, but that would mean 1 in every 25 homes in the whole country bought it and all of those would have to be sky subscribers. And i know where i watched there was 15-20 of us all watching the same tv, and many people ive spoken to since did the same. By my very rough estimates that would probably just less than half the country watched a minority sport at 4am on a PPV channel. Mad eh?!

You are dead right - you're no maths whizz. Sorry to spoil the party but nowhere near half the country tuned in to see the fight. Even IF 900,000 buys is true (and I don't believe for a second that it is), I suspect that would work out at around 3-4m max viewers. This would be approx 4-6% of the population, a very long way from half.
