He hasn't made excuses - it's just not been lucrative enough for him in the past.
Strange criteria.StepinFetchit wrote:No David Haye is NOT domestic level, always thought he was true world class and would KTFO Enzo.yiddo14 wrote:Rees is much closer to domestic level than Hatton, but I still feel he is above that level.
Come on, give us a few more(preferably not light welters)
Do you regard David Haye as domestic level?(some could argue he is Britains number 2 cruiserweight afterall)
IMO a domestic level British fighter is someone who's boxing style & ability will come up short 9 times out of 10 when he meets a top American fighter in his prime.
So the Mike Steward & Carlos Maussa fights to name just 2 made Hatton more money than a Jnr Witter fight would have.....please.Dioufy wrote:He hasn't made excuses - it's just not been lucrative enough for him in the past.
I care nothing for ring or P4P rankings that are made up by people with agendas and/or know less tabout fighters than even me.yiddo14 wrote:Strange criteria.StepinFetchit wrote:No David Haye is NOT domestic level, always thought he was true world class and would KTFO Enzo.yiddo14 wrote:Rees is much closer to domestic level than Hatton, but I still feel he is above that level.

Domestic level, for me, is someone who can't progress further than a British Title.
What if he beats a top Russian/Aussie, who at the time was considered the best in the weight division and was a top 10 p4p fighter(think The Ring had Tszyu ranked around 3 p4p at the time he fought Hatton)
How is it a pisstake, it's called market economics. If people are prepared to pay to watch him fight, he is rewarded accordingly, get over it.StepinFetchit wrote:Well as i said i have Hatton at #2 at 140 in the U.K...so for a fighter to have earned £10mil or whatever for being that good IMO is a pi$$take.KO Artist wrote:I think Hatton is a lot better than you are giving him credit for, but he does have limitations.StepinFetchit wrote:Hello, I have never posted on boxing forums but always read along the years.
Now after being PROVED right i feel i am qualified to make comments after years of reading diatribe on Ricky Hatton and how "good" he was...usually from posters on British forums.
Hatton's lungingstyle was ok when he was fighting blown up lightweights & old men in his back yard with his hand picked refs that let him get away with fouling ect.
Now i read cry babies on British forums are complaining that Cortez didn't allow Hatton to use his usual wrestling tacktics....BOOHOO.
It was no surpise to me that Hatton got a nasy beating the first time he stepped up and fought a top fighter in his prime with a ref that didn't stand for his B.S.
Hatton is not even the best 140lb fighter in the U.K..never was....Jnr Witter is the man, so Hatton needs to drop this tough guy act...because IMO is nothing but a very lucky domectic level fighter that hit the jackpot.
I do agree with you that he has hit the jackpot.
I recall he earned about £7million for his WBU title fights and his Tszyu challenge, all on home turf.
And no doubt he has earned very well out of his subsequent fights
He must be wealthy and at a guess could have a net worth of £10m plus
I am not envious, why should i be?...i am not in his business.jamesmcdonnell wrote:How is it a pisstake, it's called market economics. I think there's more than a touch of envy here. Ricky deserves everything he gets, he is popular and media friendly, and he has given his fans what they wanted.
So what, he lost to Mayweather.
You can't rate Haye then surely?StepinFetchit wrote:I care nothing for ring or P4P rankings that are made up by people with agendas and/or know less tabout fighters than even me.yiddo14 wrote:Strange criteria.StepinFetchit wrote: No David Haye is NOT domestic level, always thought he was true world class and would KTFO Enzo.

All i rate are British fighters that can mix it on a regular basis with top prime SA/American fighters.
Zoo was way inactive and 35, Hatton had the ref in his pocket.
You reckon James?jamesmcdonnell wrote:I think there's more than a touch of envy here.
Both Witter & Haye have the dedication, style, power & skills to beat the Americans.....Haye's chin will be a problem especially if he's moving up to heavy....but his punchng power and speed will see him win many fights.yiddo14 wrote:You can't rate Haye then surely?StepinFetchit wrote:I care nothing for ring or P4P rankings that are made up by people with agendas and/or know less tabout fighters than even me.yiddo14 wrote: Strange criteria.

He only beats top Europeans(does'nt matter if them Europeans are undisputed champs in their weight division. The Yanks are always the best...)
What about the great Junior Witter?
How many top, top American/SA(South American/African maybe?)fighters has he beat or mixed it with over the years?
Never even heard of? I doubt that.StepinFetchit wrote:Hatton din't just lose a close fight to PBF, he got taken to school and knocked out by a punch he never even heard of.Dioufy wrote:But Floyd Mayweather isn't just a "top American fighter in his prime" - he's p4p the best boxer on the planet, and only Paul Williams in my opinion could come close to winning, and still, he would probably get beat as well - so is he just a domestic fighter then? Or is your Yankland naivety still getting the better of you?
No, let Hatton fight Malinaggi then the winner gets to fight Jnr Witter for the Green WBC strap.Dioufy wrote:Get Junior Witter in the ring with Paulie Malinaggi and the winner fights Ricky Hatton, whilst Hatton takes a gimme against someone like Norio Kimura, Ricardo Torres or even Marcos Rene Maidana.
No....not on the level of a Jnr Witter, no way.Dioufy wrote:So Hatton doesn't have dedication then?
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahhahahahahahah.StepinFetchit wrote:No....not on the level of a Jnr Witter, no way.Dioufy wrote:So Hatton doesn't have dedication then?
I would put a bet Hatton had never heard of a check hook....Hatton can't even Jab properly, double jab or throw a straight 1-2....he is very, very basic.KO Artist wrote:Never even heard of? I practiced that shot on the pads since I was abou 14. Never pulled it off though
U laughing at yourself?....Jnr Witter walks around at no more than half a stone above fighting weight so he does not have to re-build his cardio vascular fitness from scratch for everyfight.Dioufy wrote:Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahhahahahahahah.StepinFetchit wrote:No....not on the level of a Jnr Witter, no way.Dioufy wrote:So Hatton doesn't have dedication then?
The Americans at cruiserweight and heavyweight are generally shit, so beating them will prove nothing.StepinFetchit wrote:Both Witter & Haye have the dedication, style, power & skills to beat the Americans.....Haye's chin will be a problem especially if he's moving up to heavy....but his punchng power and speed will see him win many fights.yiddo14 wrote:You can't rate Haye then surely?StepinFetchit wrote: I care nothing for ring or P4P rankings that are made up by people with agendas and/or know less tabout fighters than even me.

You have just revealed your simple mind.Dioufy wrote:And? Then you should praise Hatton for being able to get back down to 140lbs after putting on so much weight.
A last comment before i go for tonight, IMO Ricky is a fould mouthed bad joke teller that swears infront of kids at press conferences...his swearing & working mans club posturing has now become a big part of his tough guy act that was demolished last week.jamesmcdonnell wrote:How is it a pisstake, it's called market economics. A check left hook is thrown in time with your opponant moving forward, it's an educated punch and something that can only be perfected in sparring over many hours, if it is what you say then Hatton got made legless by a punch with a silly name.Terry D wrote:There are only 6 punches in boxing. The left hook is one of them. It was a side step and counter left hook given a silly name. Of course the guy has heard of a left hook. He lost to the current #1 fighter. No massive shame in that.StepinFetchit wrote:I would put a bet Hatton had never heard of a check hook....Hatton can't even Jab properly, double jab or throw a straight 1-2....he is very, very basic.KO Artist wrote: Never even heard of?
