Lockett is vastly underated, and I'm glad, It means when his chance comes, the chances are because he is so underated that his opponent will take him lightly and he will get the win he deserves that projects into the big time. He was good before, but has shown good improvement under Enzo Calzaghe and seems to move better with good lateral movement and his punches flow better also.

It was only Kai something, but Lockett did have awesome accuracy with the left hook and straight right.

I think we are all frustrated at the lack of momentum in Gary's progress over the years. None more-so than Gary himself.

He's still our best middle by a mile though! Enzo is working him like a dog now too, so watch out for increased workrate, and better fitness.

Well let me tell you a few facts about that picture.

You see the guy mopping Gary's eye? Yeah well he's the reason Gary LOST ON A SPLIT DECISION regardless of cuts (and we've all seen Hatton cut to ribbons). This is a guy who's idea of sports nutrition is egg n chips and a sauna. Gary was a young guy in that fight being led astray by a guy who didn't have a tactical bone in his body. I could go on but I hope you get the picture.

What you should also take note of is that the picture is 6 years (nearly 7 years old) when Gary was fighting at light middleweight, which to anyone who knows Gary or has met him in the flesh is ridiculous. He struggled to make the weight in that fight and looked like death warmed up in the ring to be fair. You will also note that he never ever fought at light middle again and beat the guy in the rematch on a unanimous decision at 10 days notice.
So lets not dwell on the past especially when You (the guy posting that picture) clearly haven't got a clue about boxing!!

It's a pity that Lockett's career has meandered along. The Tserenko fight, even though he subsequently avenged it really set him back as did his poor showing against Michael Monaghan in their first meeting - a fight many felt Lockett was lucky to get the nod over and when allegedly famously left his ringside seat in frustration half way through.

Since then Gary's done everything asked of him. I do feel though he had an opportunity to make a bigger statement than he did when he beat Ryan Rhodes. This was a fight for Lockett to look good against a name fighter who was on the up again but despite knocking Rhodes down in the first Lockett failed to build on that and was heavily dropped himself in the tenth. If anything Rhodes left the ring a moral victor that night.

Gary keeps winning though so hopefully Warren will deliver for him next year - he has done for Maccarinelli and Rees - and with Gary now also part of the thriving Enzo Calzaghe stable he looks to be in the right place at the right time.

You make some good points fella, but this is just silly. Lockett isn't close to being in Pavlik's league at this point in time and all of us know that KO power alone isn't enough to win you titles at world level, particularly if you're facing an opponent who's arguably harder-hitting and who has already proven his power by knocking out a world champ (Taylor).
There's no way on earth I could see Lockett doing to either Taylor or Miranda what Pavlik did to them.

Gary would need a step ladder to reach Pavlik's chin - the size disaprity would be marked.

Pavlik isnt some unbeatable monster but he is a proven performer on the world level - Gary has never shown us that. I have watched Lockett all his career and he does have great power but catching an elite level fighter with his power shots would be easier said than done.

Good luck to him, I hope he gets a credible fight soon, but a match up with Pavlik would be a leap too far IMO.
