How can Haye be a corpse at the weight when a few weeks ago he KO'd the Number 1 man in the division???

Haye said he wanted to take this fight for the fans and thats probably true at the moment he isn't well heard of in this country but the hype surrounding a british super fight for the unified title will get him a platform and some fans.
I realy hope he wins and think Enzo is over rated, will be nurvouse but not destraught if it goes on to the 7th or 8th round.

I still can't see this fight happening. It'd be a huge risk for Haye to keep fighting at Cruiserweight.

Maccarinelli has not earned the right to fight the champ.
Whilst Haye was busy making use of his passport & going after the big guns, Maccarinelli was in Wales fighting the likes of Bobby Gunn!
If Macca had more about him, he would have reached for the top, long before Haye did.
Enzo needs to prove himself, although I do admit that it would be an explosive bout.

As I say business wise this is a good deal for Haye though cos he'll get good press if he wins and lots of exposiour ether way.

We all know Mac is natural at the weight. Outside the ring he is tall and skinny. He can come into a fight 6 lbs inside the limit.
Now, you would have to say Haye is the opposite. He's outgrown the division, has to starve himself to make weight, and his performances are being affected. It is as simple as that and I can't see why ppl don't understand this.
He beat Mormeck but that was a racre against time. He's getting slower every fight and the plan was to beat the #1 in the division and then move up where he belongs.
Tell me then, why is Warren so keen for the fight now? Months ago even Warren said Haye will never make cruiser again. Now he wants Haye to make cruiser 1 time too many. That's why.

No pleasing some people IMO. The man did a come back from the deck to KO Mormeck (showing remakable strength) only a month or so ago. Perhaps, just maybe - the reason why Haye's reactions and resistance looked so bad vs Mormeck was because Mormeck was the best opponent he has faced.... a radical theory I know.
I do wonder if say Haye announced he would fight Steve Cunnigham would it be considered a more "geniune" fight than this one.

I'd get excited about the fight. But why does everything have to happen to Warren's tune? To suit the Warren fighter? The timing completely favors Macca. Whistle to the bully boys' tunes.
But if Haye sells out it's his own problem. Last thing ppl will remember him for is getting knocked out which will be sad.
I just don't see the appeal when it's obvious 1 combatant will be depleted.
Every Warren show is so stacked in 1 fighter's favor.

Just be happy that because of this boxing will be high profile next year, and if he wins we will have a marketable hw challenger who people in this country have heard of and will pay to see win.

Well Cunningham does have wins over Guillermo Jones and Krysztof Wlodarcyk in Poland. Maccarinelli's best win was over a guy (Braithwaite) who was taken out in four rounds by Jones.
Cunningham is number two in the world. Maccarinelli's just about top five at cruiserweight. His belt means nothing and he has no really impressive scalps on his record. Braithwaite was semi-retired and Mark Hobson was British title level. The Dominguez result was decent, but the Argie was barely top 20 at the time, let alone top 10.

I seriously cannot believe some of you are crying about this fight being made (if it is). It makes more sense to have the fight as a unification at 200lbs than a catchweight fight especially financially. A unification fight is going to sell far more to the man on the street than a catchweight non title fight. Some common fornicating sense please all you cry babies! Granted Haye struggles at the weight but it's his choice whether to take the fight or not. Let's not start with the ready made excuses.

No wonder Warren is to be inducted in the Hall of Fame. He really knows how to play the percentages. His man (Mac) will be 100%, whereas Haye will be about 60%.
Have to admire Haye though, because he always takes the gamble. But he could wind up being someone's fall guy. Not convinced that this fight is on but if it is I'd like to see a rematch up at heavyweight, to see it from both ends.
Would Haye need an early KO? I'd wager that Mac could be put away early with that high chin and he doesn't exactly move out of the way. He wouldn't be able to take the shots that Thompson could, perhaps, but his size, skills and power make him a muhc bigger threat.

Well you are right that warren is clearly playing a cynical game but I don't think Haye needs an early KO, I think he will get one but lets assume he comes in the same condition as he did vs. Mormeck he is capable of going the rounds with the over rated Enzo.
Common Haye espose the cynical wealsh prick for the club fighter he is let him try to hoover up your scraps when you move up!

It's not a case of ready made excuses. A guy who makes excuses about being weight drained when he WINS and all through training camp, then on fight night it's obvious he's weight drained. If he takes the fight I can only assume that Haye has been offered a ton of money by Warren that he can't turn down.
And about selling to the 'man on the street', haye has won the CW world title and noone in this country knows who he is, do you honestly think there can be enough attention drummed up between 2 fighters the average joe has never heard of? even if the boxing fraternity big it up the bottom line is NOBODY KNOWS WHO THE FRICK THEY ARE!
there are no positives for Haye. a win gives him no credence stateside, delays his heavyweight career and doesnt do much for his legacy at CW. A loss and his career is totally derailed.
I don't even think the old adage 'it's a fight for the fans' rings true either, someone is gonna get starched quicktime, there won't be much spectacle, and even if one guys lands first it won't even necessarily prove anything about who the better fighter is. with Haye that fragile at the weight they could fight 10 times and every time it may be a case of who lands first.
anyway i have heard no concrete evidence to suggest this fight is on, it's just ron lewis getting excited, a guy who ranked Calzaghe as the second greatest british fighter ever...

In a realistic world Haye will be fragile at heayweight elite too. being weight drained isnt, being punched on the chin is.

A few here are vastly over-rating Macca IMO.
I tend to agree with Haye when he says he will bowl him over in a couple of rounds.
I honestly think Macca is tailor made for Haye.
Someone hit tha nail on the head earlier though, it does nothing for Haye really(besides make him a fewq quid and shut up Fwank I guess

)
Haye is ALREADY the undipsuted cruiserweight champion.
The peper title that Enzo holds means nothing in the division.

I think Enzo is probably the most improved fighter in the country dont back against him.

Your right he has imporved from loosing to Lee Swaby and labouring vs Mark Hobson to a class fighter who can ice Mohamed Azzaoui, Haye has only beat the best guy in his division in the world and defended the european title 4 times. Hang on a minett yes I fornicating will back against him Haye is class, Enzo is all talk no trousers or at least warren is so on his behalf.

Lots of debate on how the fight would go but less discussion on the intricacies of what Haye will need to agree to in order to officially sign before the fight can truly be considered 'ON'.
The fight would have to take place on a Sports Network show and Warren is very likely to want options in the event of a Haye victory - a major sticking point from Haye's perspective (or it has been previously). Does anyone know when Haye's promotional deal with Frank Maloney is due to expire?
Will Warren be prepared to offer Haye more money than earlier in the year, will Enzo be happy to take the short end? Also, according to reports, Haye is looking to fight a heavyweight in March on a Maloney show, possibly Hasim Rahman.
Perhaps Setanta Sports, who to their credit screened Haye-Mormeck live, are prepared to bankroll the fight. Clearly Setanta think Boxing can play a key roll in them gaining more subscribers in their bid to challenge SKY.

Macca has looked very good. But he could be a bit overrated on here, and when you look at the choice of poor opposition, it backs that up. If Enzo is overrated, then he needs fights like Haye, where he fights a real champion whose body needs to be up at heavyweight.
I think we've seen many a reason brought up why Haye could give this fight a miss, even if he gets offered a king's ransom. Warren does seem very confident about this fight, and why wouldn't he? We all know damn well that Haye is weight weakened. Is FW confident enough to offer the fight without options?

I dissagree the press will hype it up and therefore everyone will have heard more about both.

There you go - starting to think more in depth and that is where the key is.
This Haye thing annoys me a tadge - here we have it again - a boxer whose promoter has got him a key fight in the Mormeck fight - but - the key question in all of this - will Haye stick with Maloney??
If he does - I will actually argue the Maccarinelli fight will not happen.
Why?? -
Because David Haye is key to the Maloney Operation and also his contract on Sky TV - Therein lies the problem whether the Maccarinelli fight takes place or not and you have hit the point -
OPTIONS - If W arren wants them there is no chance Maloney or Sky TV agree to it - No f*cking chance!!
If however Haye is at the end of his contract - then he will have all the bargaining tools - maybe he now sees W arren as a viable option?? - but I once heard an old granny say at the Post Office queue that she thought Mr W arren may not like Mr Booth too much who is Haye's trainer, manager and close friend - the old lady then went completely and utterly nuts and says Mr W arren may find it difficult to do business with Booth there.
Boxing is a funny old sport - its all too easy for the fans to demand this and that fight - but its the politics they should get their teeth into - once you start getting your head around that - then you will be a little more sensible in what fights you wish to see.

i think you will find options has already been mentioned further up. given that it's a thread that mentions a certain Warren, I'd say it's inevitable.
Loyalties can change any time in boxing, and anything can happen, but I can't really see Haye going with Warren. Warren has disrespected him a fair bit - he won't fight again, his hand his fvcked, he'll never make cruiser again, he beat a shot Mormeck, he should this, he should that - and that Setanta program was just shocking on the night of Haye-Mormeck. Haye seems to scorn that go-for-the-easy-WBO route that Warren fighters go, and seems eager to step into Lennox's shoes, i.e. same promoter, same division. That's the impression I always get, that all wouild fall into place - money, further titles, fame - after beating Mormeck.
I don't want to see the fight. I'd hate to see a good fighter fight on someone else's terms and the weight is such a sticking point.
Another thing. If Warren managed to get Haye, would he really want to feed a drained Haye to Mac? Or would he want to mould Haye into the heavyweight champion of the world? Methinks Frank would want a cruiser champ AND a heavy champ, than just the one belt holder in the division with lesser money.
