C'mon fella, I'm from Somerset and I know that is a fair statement. We've never been a hotbed for boxing - look at how many quality fighters come out of a places like Sheffield alone. The Sanigars have done a good job in Bristol and there are isolated cases like Dann in Plymouth and your boy Guthrie from Yeovil, but compared to other parts of the country we're piss-poor.
Even somewhere like Norwich has done better, thanks to Hide and Thaxton!!!

Ok  Fair point. But to add a few names,

Ross Hale (british), Dean Francis (com), Lee Haskins (com), Glenn Catley (world).
Darren Dorrington, lol. I think he might have been drunk in this fight?

Shocking refereeing I actually know him well through the southwest
thai/kickboxing scene and hese usually very good but this just goes to show people should think very carefully before trying to get involved in the unlicensed scene.

The first four you've mentioned all boxed for the Sanigars, hence my original comment. However, it's worth noting that Dean Francis is actually from Basingstoke, not the South West - he just based himself in Bristol when he was under Chris Sanigar's wing.
You could make a case for Jamie Cox creeping in given he's from Swindon. but the further into the South West you get the weaker it gets. Scott Dann is the only decent pro I can think of who ever got anywhere among those based south west of Bristol - Somerset, Devon and Cornwall.
I don't mean to be down on the region - I boxed as an amateur myself. However I know if I'd boxed in a boxing 'hotbed' like Liverpool, Manchester or Sheffield, I'd have ended up with a lot more losses on my record than I actually did :TU:

Don't think he was drunk, although I was told he turned up in a limo smoking a cigar!

Bob Fitzsimmons was born in Cornwall ;-)

Can't see people issues with West-Country boxers, what's wrong with this guys record??

What happened to Ashley Kennedy, the unlicensed fighter who beat Dorrington in that video?

All I can find on the web is that he died in his flat in Spet 07.

What were the circumstances?

Sadly Ashley passed away last year - it was massive news in Plymouth (even making the front cover of the local rag), as he was a very likable bloke. I'm not sure if he fought again after beating Dorrington - he might have got the English title, or maybe this was just before he fought him.

I don't believe that Ash did any training for any of his unlicienced fights - he could have turned pro, but sadly didn't, another story of "if only"...
