Not Guzman sorry, Diaz.....is he moving up?

I've heard his name mentioned in regards a Hatton fight. Not a bad one, that.

I remember coming back from watching David Walker getting spanked by Roman Karmazin, and sitting on the bus coming back from Ally Pally to wood green, there were loads of lads on there who were obviously walker fans, saying Karmazin was a 'fucin wanka, cheating fucin Russian caaant....' etc etc.

I pointed out that Walker was in way over his head, and that nobody should really have expected him to win, to which they said 'whose fucin side are you on mate, what do you know about it?'

I told them I was there to report on the fight for maxboxing.com, and that just seemed to nonplus them, and make them even more angry.They looked seriously pissed off, and seemed to be considering giving me a kicking, before I laughed and shook my head and just turned away from them.

I cannot stand partisan fans. Most true boxing fans I know, are happy to see the right man win, wherever he is from, it's one of the reasons why I follow boxing rather than football.

Sounds like the abuse heaped on In-Jin Chi after his fair-and-square win over Brodie in the rematch. He's a f'n wanker, apparently, and let's just say the fact of him being of a different race had not gone unnoticed.

I think Hatton should retire - this was a swansong fight in my eyes - even if he won the fight with PBF there was only a couple of more fights in the tank in my opinion.

I think taking on the elusive, switch hitting Witter at 10st at this stage of his career is pure madness from his perspective.

I think he has already cemented his postition as one of our greatest fighters.

On the other hand, in fight I, a lone Korean ended-up amongst a bunch of Mancs and would dive on their backs every so often to shout advice to Chi. I thought a riot would kick-off but at the end the lads just shook the Korean guys hand and left the arena while he was still going mental.

It is a crowd mentality but it rarely overspills, for years watching football battered my head because I could not understand why the crowd did not rush onto the pitch and attack the opposition players. I recall sitting with you and Hook when Brodie's fans got confused and initially booed him into the arena prior to their fight. Hook's classic "They're booing their own fighter!" statement still makes me laugh.

Did we meet at Brodie-Chi 1 or 2? Or wasn't it actually Brodie-Harrison? I went to all three, but only met you at one.

my opinion is that boxing is boxing and we can argue about fan bases and money etc all day.

when it comes down to it, remove all that clunk, and ask yourself, would you like to see witter vs hatton? think of the build up, think of the occasion.

Now, its not that easy obviously. Hatton is much more recognised, fact. So the ball is entirely in his court. But Junior Witter has done everything the hard way, you can't take that away from him. British, commonwealth, european and world champ. He did it the old fashioned way and took every opportunity presented to him and there is no doubt he would take the Hatton one.

I think his performance against Hopkins can FORCE the Hatton fight. If he looks scintilating on HBO, can Hatton avoid him any longer without retiring?

In almost any other sport you care to name, hatton and witter would HAVE to meet.

Quite honestly I cant see any fight better than Witter - Cotto, Hatton gets beaten, DLH, Hatton gets beaten, Torres, risky but a chance and Malignaggi, Hatton wins - Only the Cotto fight would stir up big interest but again as with DLH its all about money with almost certainly another loss on Hattons record - That leaves Torres and Malignaggi which I dont believe will satisfy the fans - Hatton says they have many options, rubbish, not against big names they havent - Maybe Witter isnt a big seller of tickets but Hatton/Witter would be and both fighters would do well out of it - If Ricky was to agree to say an October fight with Witter, I think most would be content with that - Then maybe a scrap with Malignaggi in May/June would be more acceptable - I think as long as an agreement by Hatton to fight Witter this year is made then most of us will shut up - It will then make both Witter and Hattons fights inbetween more exciting because if they both win we will have champ v champ.

Probably one of Britains, but nowhere near World-Level... not atleast until he takes on Witter.. i mean he has to be the best in His weight to be the best boxer does he not?
