It wont win fight of the year but it wasnt a bad fight - Very one sided but excellant jabbing by Lynes meant he was always in control - Considering its only been a few weeks since the death of his Father Colin still put his heart into it and kept his concentration throughout - He fought a durable opponent who had never been stopped and won by a landslide - I gave Colin every round, with perhaps the last even - Kelly Lynes his wife was a real star, what a lovely lady, very bubbly personality - They seem a really nice family who are very proud of what Colin is finally acheiving - Cant see him at world level but at British and Euro he is very good indeed.

Eurosport showed a few Tolppola fights when they started covering Ami Asikainin (whats happening to him, BTW).... He definately doesn't travel well, but I would say a worthy voluntary short notice defense... good display by Lynes very proffesional. I was a bit worried at the end of the 2nd round when Tolpolla did seem to briefly (very briefly) stagger Lynes at the end of the round. Lynes showed some good experience not to panic and get back to the boxing.

Yeah, it was 120-108 on my card.

Bit concerning with Barry Hearn at the end of the interview - doesn't seem like he has much faith/ambition in Lynes... mentioning Barry Morrison again. Why not call out Gavin Rees, or even say how's about Lynes vs the Rees/Kotelnik winner. Thats the fight I want to see, think Lynes could beat the pair of them.

Really dissapointed in Craig Dickson - I thought he gave such a good account of himself vs Anderson.... perhaps, given the performances since of recent Anderson victims we all just overated the Ando a tad. Dickson tried but is obviously limited. Shame about the cut it was really a "urrggh" moment seeing it happen, bit like Golota last week.

Harry, I've sent you a PM. In the meantime, here's what Hearn said (I'll get Watt's comments to you later):

Interviewer (to Hearn): "What's next?"

Hearn: "Well a lot of choices, obviously. Mr. Branco if he ever does take the fight is threatening for the European title, but it's an interesting division. Technically, quite superb tonight, quite superb. Didn't put a foot wrong and I don't think he's going to be top of everyone's shopping list, to be honest with you. I mean you've got Morrison, you've got... you know, obviously... Ted Bami. There's a lot of domestic action out there. And there's the European stage as well. I think the secret with Colin is keeping him busy. Never mind, the hand will be fine in 4 or 5 weeks' time and he wants to get out and work and earn his money. That's what he does, he's a professional fighter."

lynes reminds me of kotelnik, well schooled, compact and does th abasics very very well, whether its enough to reach the top of the sport is a different matter.

Excellent fighter, his jab is superb and I would love to see him fight Rees. I would give him a real chance and it would be a cracking fight. I think though at world level you need to punch harder than Colin does.

Yes, he does. I think it would be depending on the champion he faces.

I would favour him over Rees/Kotelnik - quite heavily against the Welshman.

Malignaggi, Witter, Torres - quite tough to call.

Lynes has become a very good fighter. Some really good Euro level performances. I'd like to see him build up for a shot at one of the world titles. He did ok vs Witter, and this was before Lynes got as good as he is. Think Lynes could give a decent test to one of the champs out there. He's reminding me of Clinton Woods, the way he's becoming such an improved fighter.

Olusegun would be another good fight.

Jim Watt: "We thought it would be a battle of the jabs and within half a minute we could see who had the snap and it was Colin Lynes. Full credit to Tolppola, tried everything he had, but just couldn't get past that jab. Kept his chin down, was well-schooled, knew exactly what was required, but couldn't execute that. Lynes found his rhythm... by the middle stage he was doing pretty much as he pleased. Everything he was doing was working, no reason to change it. He was relaxed, he was solid, he was holding the centre of the ring, allowing Tolppola to walk onto the shots. (Commenting on some replayed action from round 9) Lovely left hook, bang on the chin, One of the few times that he actually landed cleanly on the chin. But a tremendous amount of punches taken by Tolppola all the way through. (Commenting on replayed action at final bell, referring to Lynes). Then finishing on a bit of a high, everyone will be going home happy."
Watt scored it 119-109.
