Yes, it's a "sink or swim" fight, for sure. It's not a money fight, as TT isn't a draw, so it looks like Audley's serious. It's risky, but at 36 he has no choice but to gamble. Having said that, if this is a "mid-year" fight, he should try to squeeze in at least an eight-round workout in early spring. Thompson is a tough proposition anyway, let alone coming off a year and a half of inactivity.

I really don't think he'd beat Rahman and Brock. We're talking about a guy who has ultimately failed at British domestic level.

Tony Thompson is the sleeper in the pack.

He's actually everything Audley should have been but has done it without noise, backing or favours.

Physicaly, they're similar, similar age, late starters etc.

But as we saw at the weekend with Skelton, our British domestic level is not far off world class at all. Chagaev had a hard nights work with a man Williams & Sprott have narrowly edged/competed well with.

Skelton could probably go 12 rounds with most Heavyweights, he's a tough fella. Harrison on the other hand is as fragile as they come and mentally weak when it comes to the crunch. I doubt he'd last the distance with Chagaev.

So the big spineless bum that is Audley Harrison is thinking about a tough comeback fight!

Shame he never thought about fighting decent opponents earlier on.

Then again, he isn't daft; he knows with his dreadful stamina & timid nature, his gravy train would have been derailed long before it was.

Audleys self esteem must be below zero after the subsequent form of Guinn and the devastating kayo loss to Sprott.

Anyone else get the feeling Audley knows he cant win but just wants to go down fighting for his final fight?

I agree with this.

Audley is a clever guy, hence why he has gotten so rich out of boxing.

Audley should thank his lucky stars if someone lands him a fight with Thornton. I don't see him winning and he would start a clear under dog, but if he does pull off an upset , he's back in play.

Guys I've seen a number of Thompson's fights and trust me he is nothing special at all - even in todays's mediocre heavyweight scene. But he obviously works hard, he's 6ft 5, a southpaw, he's got a good work rate(throws a lot of punches for a heavyweight) and he's consistent. That gets you far as a heavyweight today. If the usual lackluster Harrison shows up, it points to a clear UD for Thompson(who isnt much of a banger despite stopping Krasniqi) but if Harrison can somehow pull out the best performance of his career he could win as Thompson is far from unbeatable. But then again it is Audley so points defeat it is then!

Im not necessarily saying he would win but if he wanted a world rated heavyweight with a decent reputation he could have picked a much easier fight than Thompson. I do think he's got a chance though, as someone said earlier, Skelton wasnt completely outclassed in his title fight and Audley could easily beat better people than Matt Skelton if he just upped his workrate and used his skills more. His biggest problems are in his head.

Ah come on matey. I'm no Audley-lover but that was a belter of a shot, right on the money & with Audleys jaw hanging wide open.

Thompsons last 'loss' was on points to Maurice Harris in the final of the Thunderbox 2002 tourney. Although that is listed as an exhibition.

TT seems like a logical step. I think A Farce could win this one, If he could put his undoubted skills together and act like a contender after his Sydney 2000 promise I see no reason why he could not be a geniune world champion.

Audrey just pisses me off, if he could of kept his mouth shut and really hit the scene earlier instead of fighting journeymen I would of respected him more, instaed he is a jerk. But I still would back him for this fight if he explodes his undoubted technical skills.

Risky, but it will pay off if he wins a shot at the title (WBO), and he has a good chance because TT is nothing special.
