IBO. IBO

What the Donald Duck?

Must be one of the least regarded alphabet ttles there is.
I consider it fifth best behind the big four. Current holders:

Hatton
Tarver
Klitschko
Adamek
Donaire

That's not a bad list.

On the BBC boxing show the other night they said they thought Hatton would face Herman Ngoudjo at the City of Manchester on May 24th or a week after

Fair enough, I guess opinions will differ- one of the problems in having so many "World" titles.

But still, before they Mayweather fight people were talking about Hatton as one of Britains best ever- I really think second tier titles arn't the way to go.

Ricky likes his IBO title because he doesn't have to fight mandatories and can pick his own opponents i.e. who brings him the most money for the least risk and he doesn't need a big 4 belt to sell himself

Ricky has never fought a mandatory challenger in his career, every opponent has been handpicked. What a nice situation to have been in

It is when you get KTFO like Hatton did. The worst thing he can do is go against another quality/P4P fighter. He needs at least one "gimme" fight.

However, saying that, I was expecting a little better than a fighter who couldn't beat Nate Campbell at 135.

Fair enough, a warm up fight doesn't hurt- but it would be a real shame if he concludes his career fighting at IBO level, rather than taking on a top class fighter for a "big four" title.

The Ricky-bashing has to stop! He is surely due a gimme, I completely agree.

He's just been in with Mayweather and got KO'd, people seem to have dismissed that as a distant memory.

I don't think his career is now over, he won't just fight IBO level bums....

I think it is unfair to expect him to fight Witter the fight after being KTFO. BUT he could fight someone a bit better than Watshisface unless its going on free tv.

I heard Ngoudjo is on the table and I would certainly tune in for a fight against a decent contender like that. Anyone top 20 at 140 or 147 would be good. This South African probably doesn't fall into that bracket

He's No.10 at Welterweight on Boxrec.

to be fair Ngoudjo would not be acceptable either in my opinion,
the guy is coming off losses, and was beaten by JLC who Hatton beat
with ease, theres little to no point in this, atleast if he wants an
easy tune up fight someone who is on a winning streak or is a faded big name or a champion coming up in weight...

Lamont Peterson - name for the future, unbeaten american, coming off a good win.

Timothy Bradley - if he beats JLC in march, would remain unbeaten.

Juan Diaz - certainly an easy fight for hatton, but the guy is a big name,
unbeaten number one at lightweight, but way to small to hang with Hatton.

Paul Spadafora - unbeaten former champion, inactive, not fought at high level for awhile.

Id be happy with any of these...

Now, im not saying there the best opponents, but im sayin there easy comeback fights, i dont agree with Hatton having a tough fight so soon after the beating he has just taken, he needs a "gimmie" so to speak,
whether you agree or not, he shouldnt be rushing into another big fight so soon.

Totally agree with that. Why should he be fighting the big names one after the other, especially after that loss? His confidence must have taken a battering as well, which is why Junior is suddenly turning up the heat with his cries for a domestic dust-up.

I'm going into a self-imposed hiatus after this post, because some of the shit being spouted in the British scene, far less the other forums at the moment, is totally doing my nut.

Look beyond the title. The title means shit. Who did you have as your 175 #1 between 2003 and 2006? And what belt did he have? The titles outwith the four which enforce mandatories are what you make them. Rubbishing the fight on the basis of the title is shortsighted. There wasn't a peep made when the IBO title was on the line against the "IBO level" JLC. It's just a belt to hold aloft when the fight is over - makes for a good picture.

If you want the big fights, then forget Hatton keeping belts. Whatever kudos unification gives you these days I don't know, but is anyway practically impossible. If Enzo beats Haye, I'll eat my hat and cat if he has the 3 belts in 12-18 months time. Would you rather Hatton had fought Ben Rabah than Castillio?

The IBO has a policy whereby only boxers within the top 30 of their computerized rankings can contest the title. For me, that's a better ensurer of a title challenger's calibre than the fact his promotor's paid for the fornicating WBC Latino title 5 times over. Hlatswago by the way, is rated #8 by the IBO at welterweight.

Maybe Hatton should fight Arturo Morua? I doubt people like the obsessed StepinFetchit had a bad word for him as a Witter opponent.

Seriously, being angry that Hatton is ducking Hatton is fine (although failing to acknowledge that Hatton is Witter's golden egg rankles with me personally.) You can even argue that Witter is #1 in the division if you want, although quite how his CV, Harris aside, gets him there is beyond me. But how this anti-Hatton stuff has suddenly taken off after he loses to Mayweather is unbelivable. Because he speaks in the third person some of the time? Because he drinks? Because he's ducking Witter? Why doesn't Witter call out any of the other champions if he's so committed to the cause and he can't get Hatton to fight?

I want to see Hatton-Witter as much as anyone. Failing to tidy up your own back yard isn't great. But fornicate me Hatton wouldn't be the first to fail to do so. Get a grip and grow up.

I completely understand where jomothepure is coming from.

For me, personally, I would enjoy BoxRec a lot more (and I do enjoy it loads) if the admin(s) would enforce the rules of the forum and get rid of people who insult others and/or troll.

Isaac Hlat isn't acceptable for PPV which Ricky will want us to pay on these shores. If you want the British public to pay at least give them the fights they want, or at least promise it them for the near future (Witter).
