Newcastle make me laugh with all their nonsense about being a 'big' club and having amazing wonderful fans. Exactly. I remember a Saturday 3pm kick off when they were at home to Leicester and they got less than 13,000.

The 'Toon Army' nonsense is very irritating. Mind you, I've never been to a city where you get more people wearing replica tops out and about. It's like some Orwellian nightmare.

Chelsea have a history for sure but the problem is that many of their fans think they've been a big club for much of it when in reality they have only been a 'big' club since the money came. And in that sense 'big' means buying trophies and pouring money into a financially unsustainable, souless, pit of a club.

Yeah, but any other club would get slaughtered for that. Look at Chelsea getting 24,000 for Rosenbourg this year, £50 to get in for a pretty meaningless game. Liverpool often got less than that at home for European Cup games. All their 'fans' ringing radio stations to criticise, know nothing about their own club. I had 2 of them in the pub yesterday, both over 40, I've been to Anfield more than the two of them put together.

We're just a medium sized club, but we've had decent support through our history considering our lack of success, apart from spells of poor support in the 80's. We've always had to pay nearly twice as much to get in as some of the bigger clubs, with a smaller fan base. Everyone just sulks cos we come into a bit of money. Who has had success in the last 20 years without having bought it?

To be honest mate most of the clubs other than yourself or Blackburn.

Man.Utd have built their success off the back of their own resources - well run, managed and supported. As much as it pains me to say it (I am a Spurs fan) Arsenal as well. No rich sugar daddies there.

Even clubs like Liverpool and Newcastle may have had an injection of cash at times but that is because they were sustainable financial models in the long term.

Even after all of Harding's money Chelski nearly went tits up until Abramovich came in with a 'bit' of money. Yeah just a bit. Chelski are still losing £75m per year.

Personally speaking I couldn't derive any pleasure from their 'hollow' successes to date. They meant nothing.

That's the whole point though, isn't it. Clubs like United and liverpool have more money than everyone else so bought better players so won more trophies so got more prize money so bought better players , so earnt more money in Asia etc,etc. Nice little closed shop. All of a sudden someone else gets a bit of money and 'It's not fair, we always had more money than everyone else and now they've getting in on the act, it's so unfair'. Who do you think takes more in gate money, Chelsea or Liverpool? You think Liverpool are not in debt? You think Man Utd are not in debt?

Chelsea take more in gate receipts than Liverpool. A lot more. The latest Deloitte report had their matchday revenue at £74.5 million, compared to £38.4 million for Liverpool.
