I DON'T! I am a true boxing fan like you guys - I would love nothing more than this fight to happen.

What I am saying is why it won't happen and why saying that Hatton HAS to fight Witter to protect his legacy is pointless. Only 0.1% of the population know what that legacy really is.

He isn't going to risk it all to appease us.

What you`ve posted is a contradiction in terms. On one hand you assert that your a "True" boxing fan. Now as a true boxing fan like you say you`d love the fight to happen. But then equally you say his not going to RISK IT ALL to appease his "fans"?

That word "fan" with Ricky seems to be quite a subjective one. Does anyone really care for a fight between him and Lazcano at Wembley when his "TRUE fans" want to see him vs Witter? Or when he says "fans" does he mean the useless Man City football fans that follow him everywhere like his the pied piper as they couldn't care less if Hatton got in the ring and squeezed one out in front of them. They`d still cheer regardless.

Now seeing its abundantly clear that Ricky doesn't actually care about what true boxing fans want then surely on this premise alone -that he refuses to face his toughest test in his division- history and thus his legacy WILL NOT be kind to him. History will not remember him as one of the best welterweights out there because he was a classic right time right place guy who only fought on his terms when it suited him. No one will look back on DLH`s beating on Chavez as one for the ages. History wont remember Joppy for beating up an old Duran. History wont be kind to Berbick either for demolishing Ali. Why because when it mattered most it never happened. The victorys are shallow and immaterial and most of all totally insignificant.

He fought a steady stream of WBU cans and then 2 fights against 2 physically shot fighters propels him into immortality? And then when he meets a stern test he runs back to 140 citing a myriad of excuses and still wont fight the best guy in his division when he fought the best fighter in the world because $20m was at stake?

Hatton the so called best fighter in the world at 140 and we dont even know if his the best in Britain. Thats been brewing for what will be 8 years. Seriously you couldn't make that up.

And.... I hope Lazcano knocks the piss out of Hatton.

In facg - Lazcano is not all that good and is inactive - but he is still one of the best Shitman has ever faced - what does that say about Ricky's career to date?

High risk, low reward is a daft arguement. If you believe you are the best you need to prove it against your biggest rival and in Hattons case money shouldnt be an issue, he has plenty already. Haye and Enzo are going to sort out who is the best CW. Its about rivals settling the arguement regarding who can beat who not making up excuse after excuse for not fighting your best opposition. Hattons team have picked fighters they believe Ricky can beat, not putting him to the test against the best fighter at LWW, the holder of the WBC belt and main challenger to the titles best in Britain as well as the World. Ricky knows, in fact his whole team know, Witter is the fans choice. OK the public may not know Junior Witter but have they heard of Lazcano, lets be honest not too many boxing fans know him either. Hatton/Witter would be huge in Britain and remember this is supposed to be a fight for Hattons loyal fans who have had to go to America for a good while to see him fight live. Anyway is Hatton all that well known to the British public, no but Amir Khan is because he fights on ITV. Therefore his legacy will be tainted by the true boxing fans who will always argue the best didnt fight the best. The public just wont give a toss. Do Girls Aloud give a damn about what I think about them, why should they, I dont buy their CDs. Should they care about their fans, they must and so should Ricky Hatton.

Err.. it clearly isn't. I am writing in English?

It is quite simple. As a true boxing fan I WANT the fight to happen.

But Hatton doesn't care what the TRUE boxing fans want. He has the rest of the 99.9% of the population behind him.

You talk about legacies - it won't be the TRUE boxing fans who write it.

It will be the idiots in the general media. You know - the ones he plays up to with his best mate next door shit.

Look at Eubank. 99.9% of people in this country think he was the best in his weight at the time. We all know he didn't actually the best around his weight....

Most of the public/media currenly think Khan is the best fighter we have. He is only the Commonwealth champion and has obvious flaws.

The sad truth is fighters hide behind perception rather than fact...
