but why should hatton take a paycut.

it's now clear there not interested in showing witter.

otherwise they would accept another opponent for junior on this katsidis undercard.

take a paycut for witter.

yeah right.

something that hatton has always wanted.
and most importantly he brings very little to the ring in comparison to Witter

Keep up son.
The MSG fight relies on Paulie in my opinion.
course it does.

who else at 140 could help sell it out.

Paulie didnt look to have a massive following against Ngoudjo, obviously had fans but not a massive amount

Hatton-Witter in the UK does more sales than Hatton-Malignaggi in NYC because more of Hattons fans will make it to a UK venue than a NYC venue and Brits will buy the line 'Big Brit Unification'

Because he is fabulously wealthy already? Hatton has earned a king's ransom in his last few fights, not to mention the long run at the MEN against various palookas.

Also, I refuse to believe that this fight could not be sold to the British public. I no longer care whether or not American TV are interested in Hatton v Witter, Hatton has made enough money, surely he can take a fight that doesn't earn him £5million plus, for the sake of beating up on a loud mouthed domestic rival.

It seems sadly though, that Hatton just doesn't care.

He will care in years to come I predict however, when people talk about him ducking Witter.

Most of Hatton's long-time Manc fans are aware of the long-time Witter rivalry... they want that fight.

What does Wembley hold for a fight? I've been to a couple of Bruno's but can't remember the attendance.

The Malignaggi fight will easily sell-out MSG. After Mayweather his career path was always likely to takein Paulie at the Garden.

Unless Witter fights soon the backlash will die down prior to the Paulie bout. Already the style of Witter's fans protest on this forum have created a backlash against the backlash.

There is so much backlashing going on we'll attract scores of Tory MP's to the forum.
Why is selling out the MSG better than selling out Wembley or Man City? I don't think it is.

It doesnt matter if people get annoyed with some Witter fans. Witter-Hatton is a conversation thats been going on for years. No one will talk about Hatton-Malignaggi in the same way because it isnt a marque fight

I think Hatton-Witter may make Hatton more than a fight with Malignaggi. It has all the makings of an event people would want to goto and want to see. 2 World Champs, Battle of Britain, 2 punchers, Battle of the Roses, Rivals for 10years, Real hatred etc etc. A decent british 24/7 series could be made with lots of publicity. A British PPV with 60,000 watching in a football stadium.

Alternatively Hatton versus captain feather fist

Regardless of whether you agree with the fights and/or like Hatton:

1. He'll sell 40,000 tickets in Manchester easily. He was selling 20,000 for some of his low level MEN WBU defences, he is much higher profile now.

2. He'll sell out MSG even easier. Brits love New York, droves of them will come over for a fight weekend.

Frank Maloney Promotions will promote Ricky Hatton's May 24th domestic fight in Manchester against likely opponent Juan Lazcano. The bout will NOT take place in the early morning hours to accomodate American TV. The Hitman is expected to soon ink a new pact with HBO that would likely commence with a clash against IBF 140lb titleholder Paul Malignaggi.

Nice to see Maloney is still very much involved in the sport. Frank is a nice guy & it's pleasing to hear he will be promoting Hatton's next bout.

Anyone know how much Ricky will be getting paid?

I was just about to post saying 4 certainties for this fight are -

1 - Hatton wins
2 - Lazcano is hyped up into some superstar Mexican warrior who hasnt been stopped in 10 years
3 - Rip off tickets
4 - Shit undercard

But after just reading that Maloney is promoting it at least the last one shouldnt apply for a change. Now i know he's not perfect but Maloney always provides good undercards, not necessarily big names but at least well matched fights. Hell he might even get Matthew Hatton fighting someone in the British top 20! Its a long time since the first few hours of any big British show has been bearable.

Hatton just needs Mick Hennessey for the full set now

What happened with Hobson? I think, at the time of the Urango or Castillo fight, Team Hatton said he was still their "UK promoter".

Hobson laid into Barry McGuigan shortly after the Castillo fight (when Barry said 'Wayne Rooney means nothing to Americans' or something along those lines), really laid into him. Team Hatton ditched him then.

That's a bit ruthless ain't it? Especially for a happy go lucky , normal bloke like Ricky.

The cruel part of me really hopes that this is going to be a disaster.
I think its more that we're down on Hatton the media construct - we like Hatton the fighter - in some ways more so now that we can think of him as an English Arturo Gatti rather than an unbeaten star - we just don't like the constant fleecing of his fans, his Dad, or his refusal to make the best match ups because he is frightened of losing!

What did Hamed- Calvo do?

This is no bigger than that was.

Hamed v Calvo got the Prince booed from thr 3rd round, had the Cockerneeze leaving half way through.

I maintain it was the boos not the other political, weight-making, moptovational issues that are used.

Hamed booed. And he was a shadow of his pomp.

Well, I am a Ricky fan - but this scenerio is now getting worst... HBO are not interested - well certainly not the live telecast. So why not Witter. At least it will be a UK PPV. No guarentees that Lazcano will even be a UK PPV.
