Hopefully, not the kind of lesson that Norris gave to him. You know you leonard nuthuggers keep saying he was past his prime and blah, blah, blah..... Terry Norris is a better fighter than that media queen could hope to be. If he weren't he would never have dominated in the manner shown.
I think it was terrible the way Ref Mercante scolded Terry for that late hit. Leonard gets to hit late, why doesn't anyone scold him? He even drove in a groin shot on Hagler with no warning. And I agree, we all knew Leonard only had to last the distance for an automatic win.
Thank God for Norris that he wasn't one of those old farts of the late 80's bevcause if he were, I never would have gotten to see the bitchslapping of 1991.

I had Hearns winning pretty clearly. Benitez showed great defense, as usual, but Hearns' jab and length made the difference. I've seen all of Hearns' biggest fights lots and lots of times, but this is one I've only seen once. I should watch it again. Hearns is probably one of my top ten favorite fighters, but he doesn't seem to come up much on this site. And I like Benitez a lot too.
Another thing that should be said is that this fight started the title reign of arguably the best Jr. Middleweight champion of all time. Tommy was awesome at 154.

NO doubt about that, at 154lbs, Tommy looked too awesome...He would've destroyed Leonard at that weight class, especially, the night that he came to fight against Duran and Leonard a month before vs Kevin Howard...If Hearns would have been the opponent instead, the boxing history pages would have been VERY DIFFERENT. I thought he didn't do enough at 154lbs after trouncing Benitez. He licked Hutchings and Duran, for sure, but looked horrible against Medal and also struggled against Minichillo.

Well he was. He was a punching bag for Berbick, Holmes, Spinks, Norton (fights 1,2,3) Frazier (Fights1,2,3) spent most of the time as Ron Lyle's punching bag.
