So Alex is going to be getting in the ring against a light middleweight! Bloody hell, it's just bizzare - talk about a loaded deck.


I'll say this for AA, he gets his knocks over here, but he's still a world class operator when he's on form, and brave as hell. Just look at the way he kept getting off the floor against Gomez to take his lumps. Got a decent punch on him too, maybe enough to make Guzman think twice about walking right through him.

In terms of chances for our boy, it's similar to when the G Man came over to take the title off Benn - no one gave Benn a cat's chance in hell. AA will probably be thinking about that fight, as this one gets closer.

Exactly.

AA has also been a terribly slow starter in the last few fights that I have seen him in. If he allows someone of Guzman's quality to dictate and control from the start then I can only see a sustained one sided beatdown ending at the half way stage.

Guzman KO3. Maybe even earlier. Arthur has not fought at this level. It'll look like Karmazin/Walker.

By the way, why can't I find any odds for this fight?

I bet Frank's gutted that Guzman actually accepted the fight, i'm sure he didn't expect it. Not sure why AA is being congratulated for taking the fight, unless he's prepared to carry on walking around as the 'interim WBO champion' forever and fight british title level fights masquerading as world championship boxing.

But good luck to him though, I fear he'll need it.

still, even though AAA will lose, Frank can say he promoted a fight involving the outstanding Guzman.

i wonder what Arthur will weigh on the night. Surely he puts loads of weight on as well post weigh in?

Actually until he beat Barrios and Soto I think that's correct. The manner in which he dominated Soto opened a lot of people's eyes to his talent.

Soto was actually the favourite at the time with the bookies.

arthur starts too slow to even put a seed of doubt into guzmans mind.
he wont be able to impose authority on him and will find himself chasing a lost cause as early as the 3rd. but he's got a lot of bottle alex arthur and is bang at his peak, a fine boxer in his own right and i reckon he'll claw some of the middle rounds back before soaking up too much and in my view RSF 10.

He beat Soto whilst still appearing to box within himself, the sign of an exceptionally talented fighter.

Is Guzman more than just fast reflexes?

Guzman's an awesome boxer, I think he's underrated if anything, but he doesn't go looking for the KO since his hand problems he's content to box and bombard his opponent from the outside, he reminds me alot of JC in style

MightyWarrior makes a very good point regarding Jorge Barrious. Barrios tasted Guzman's power and had to change tactics or get knocked out.
