I think the easy time Khan had with Earl was, in large part, due to the beating Graham suffered in the Katsidis fight. I think Katsidis is being underrated here and wouldn't be at all surprised if he overwhelms and becomes the first to stop Casa. Amir could possibly outpoint the current version of Casamayor, whereas I'd give him very little chance against Katsidis who punches too hard and too often!

To be fair, Michael is also susceptable to cuts as well.

Agree, on the face of it, Joel looks a good bet to take Katsidis to school - the Aussie looks overated, not really beaten anyone of note.

But I didn't see Joel's last fight, and it sounds a bad one, down in the first as well? Could be the ring rust though, and he'll be up for this one big time.

I'm going for JC on points or maybe late TKO, hoping he's not an "old" fighter already.

I didn't see the Santa Cruz fight but i would expect Casa to have enough to 'old man' his way through to an ugly decision. The Aussie has power but poor accuracy.

Maybe Casamayor didn't train too hard for his last fight.

It's a hard fight to call, because cannot be sure whether Casamayor is on the slide badly. One bad fight does not neccessarily mean he's shot, but he is pretty old, and relies on reflexes a lot with his style.

Depends on what the odds are here. If Katsidis is a big favourite, worth a punt, but cannot imagine he will be more than marginal favourite if at all.

I still say this fight is about timing, and its the right time for Katsidis.
Joel Casamayor has been a great boxer, arguably the greatest cuban pro of modern times. But his prime was a few years ago and his record at lightweight isn't that great , since he lost the super feather title he's had 7 fights at lightweight, going 5-1-1, and 2 of those wins by SD.

Katsidis will lose the first couple of rounds then be able to get inside the ageing Casamayor , breaking him up for a KO in 8

I prefer these odds off BetFred, note a Casa UD has come in tpo 4/1 from 5/1

A prime Casamayor stops Katsidis within the distance. He'd just know too much and be too accurate for the face-first Aussie. Depends how much the old man's got left, I s'pose. Still gotta fancy Joel, though. Let's be honest, Katsidis is just a broke Arturo Gatti with an Aussie accent and a suit of armour.

Yeah it's hard to be sure about this one, Katsidis should win, if he's as good as American TV hopes he is, but he looked a bit average last time out, and his face marked up badly - and that was meant to be a showcase fight, not another war.

Katsidis really hasn't fought ANYONE. Even Santa Cruz who Casa looked very poor against, is way better than anyone Katsidis has on his record.

This fight will tell us more about Kastidis than Casamayor - As has been mentioned it looks like Casamayor has been brought in as the 'name'.

I'll be placing a punt on Casamyor - Even though the Earl fight was massively entertaining, Kastidis was kinda exposed as being a bit of a slugger.

clapclap. Katsidis is nothing, which is why it's frustrating that this fight isnt a few years ago when we knew how casa was fighting, because on the 'hyped fighter' basis katsidis may still have been favourite a la trinidad vs hopkins.

I do not think casamayor has the punch power to stop Kastidis - but he certainly has the boxing skills to outpoint the Aussie and make it a very uncomfortable night for him - just a question of how much Casamayor has left.

Graham Houston goes for Katsidis...he's not wrong too often. He also thinks Rees loses his title tonight.
I've gone the other way for both, no cash down yet though. Fairly confident Rees does it, somehow, but wondering how much Joe Casa has left.

Katsidis will be found out soon, but not against Casamayor. This fight couldn't have come at a better time for Katsidis.

If Casa has ANYTHING left he should win this. As others have pointed out, Katsidis hasn't fought anyone of any note at all, and has been in life or death struggles with fighters who are only fringe world class at best. I would make Casamayor a favourite in this, but I'd prefer to see Katsidis win because it'll mean some new blood for the division, and because his style always makes for exciting fights.
