enzo mac was shit scared even before the first bell, the fight was virtually won on the entrances alone, haye, taking his time, supremely confident, lapping up the atmosphere, enzo mac, ran to the ring and was shaking at the referees pre fight instructions.

Anyone else think they might have actually brought in big sparring partners from the heavyweight and cruiser divisions? Rather than just sparring Joe Calzaghe and some of the little guys?
Perhaps they were thinking that they'd simply win it on fitness. Maybe they banked on Haye's reflexes being shot?

I have no idea what those little guys bring to the table other than 'speed' hardly gets you ready to get HIT by a cruiser.
Basically - I think Haye is faster with one punch speed all the guys in in Enzo's camp.
They MUST have had a few heavyweights???

Unless someone tells us otherwise, I think he was sparring guys like Pryce, Lockett, etc??

nah, I dount he' has quicker hands than Joe, and I dount he has quicker hands than the lighter guys either. He hits a fook of a lot harder though.

Enzo Calzaghe is a fantastic trainer - his achievements are beyond question.
However I genuinally question his and anyone elses judgement who seriously gave Maccarinelli a serious chance against David Haye.

I tend to think they used what they had Pryce, Locket, Rees and Joe. They concentrated on getting Enzo super fit rather than have him spar with people his own weight. We all knew Haye would be looking for an early finish and Enzo needed to weather the storm and strike later. He just couldnt take the battering and survive as Carl Thompson did which is what he had to do. Had Enzo got through a few rounds Haye would have slowed and Enzo could have taken over. Playing Hayes game trying to be first to land big was never going to work because Haye is far too fast.

Whatever the approach - David Haye was always going to be Enzo - there is no shame in that.

Always a case though of who landed first. Haye isn't all of a sudden mister durable. No one can dispute Enzo is a world class puncher - even if he is down on Haye technically.

Have to disagree to a tadge as I think you are hinting at questions regarding Haye's punch resistance - look at the Thompson fight - Haye took some massive shots and still wasn't sparked out!!!

Yes, true, he took a terrible shellacking from Thompson, and wasn't actually KO'd but rescued on the ropes.
However, the shots that Mormeck and Mock dropped him with landed high on the head and put him down, which seems to be his weakness.
Would be interesting to see what would happen against a taller opponent like Wlad, who is quite likely to land on the top of his head.
Just a theory, but Haye has quite a long neck, and I wonder if that's why shots to the top of the head seem to bother him.

You mention Mock - Haye then was a young, over eager boxer who inexcusably got caught by being too gun ho this then went on until he finally learnt his lesson from the result of the Thompson fight.
No shame - none at all getting dropped by Mormeck and then coming back to win that fight.

I wouldn't be overly suprised to see the two Enzos part company after this. Trying to turn Macca into Joe is never going to work, Joe has natural talent and the ability to change tactics midway through a contest, these are two things that Macca will never have.
I am also of the opinion that Macca could probably boil down to Light Heavy or needs to fill out a little. I doubt he is anywhere near as powerful as we are led to believe.

I watched quite a it of Enzo punching and he hits hard, no doubt - BUT just look at many of his KO's and the opponent seemed to just give up.
How many has be knocked out cold or for the full 10? - anyone know?
The speedof his punch is very good, yes - he might be better at 12st 7lbs if he really walks around at 13st 11.
