I reckon Calzaghe would fight Woods if both win next month in America. Collect big paydays each, come back and fight in front of some 40,000 strong crowd. Hard to resist I'd say.

Perhaps you could be right!!! .... Come on Clinton.

I think he will hang out for another payday after Hopkins, whether that is against Clinton Woods is very debatable.

Jones Jr looks more likely, mind you he does have to get past Hopkins first.

I will be saying it until the final bell rings and we hear Michael Buffer read out the judges scores - then all hell will break loose as I am convinced we will see one of the most dodgy decisions in many a year.

Lets hope I am wrong - yet again!!! :TU:

If Woods beats Tarver which I think will happen - will Calzaghe consider that fight big enough to take on in the UK?
One possible outcome is that, if he beats Hopkins, he will face Pavlik as his last fight. I don't see Calzaghe vs Woods coming off, but I won't write it off.

If he wins in April but feels he has declined then I think he'd retire. He wants to retire undefeated. If he wins in style, I'm pretty sure he'll have another fight. If he loses; well, I don't know how he'd handle that.

Have to disagree with your view about Calzaghe and Woods.

If Calzaghe does not retire and if Clinton beat Tarver then I say the fight is made in my view and that is an opinion without knowing anything what is going on behind the scenes.

I've actually been thinking of an unlikely scenerio - but never say never in this sport.

We have had Battle of the ages that we never thought would happen - like Jones vs Tito (eventually), DLH vs Hopkins, Mayweather vs DLH. Fights in which we have thought the weight difference is too much.

What about Haye vs Calzaghe for the Undisputed Cruiserweight title.

It would be an absolutely massive event.... if Calzaghe beats Hopkins - then he might call out Haye for his last fight.

Eubank came within a whisker of achieving it (I thought he did, and was going to do it in the rematch also)... It would be a promoters dream. It would be Hollywood stuff now (it is a bit like the film "kickboxer" - in which Calzaghe seeks revenge for his friend).

Calzaghe would be an heavy underdog no doubt, but my word it would get the back pages flooded with boxing.

:o Love to see it, but not a chance. When Eubank did it, the weight was nearly a stone lighter too.... No way would Calzaghe get in the ring with Haye, weighing well over 15st on fight night.

I gravely doubt that Joe would give away such a serious size advantage!

What a load of bollcoks, Calzaghe will throw blistering combos incessantly! Pretty poor attempt by you to try undermine the boxers skills. Calzaghe will completely dismantly Hopkins cos he a much better fighter in every department. Joe will adapt to whatever Hopkins decides to do, which wont be particularly complex as Hopkins is one dimensional.

Oh please, 6-7-8 years ago Hopkins would have basically just beat Calzaghe up. He was that bit sharper across-the-board to make Joe pay for every mistake (and boy did he make a lot of mistakes), as well beating him to the punch when Joe is squared and static with his chin up.

The Calzaghe of today against that Hopkins would get beat down, too, though more slowly. Today Calzaghe's style looks like a queer trying to fight his way out of spider webs, the judges would go for Hopkins's clean work and harder punches if it went that far.

Sorry mate just cant agree with you. Calzaghe would have beaten him then and he'll beat him now. Ive never rated hopkins, crap boring fighter, with no pop and no heart. How many times has he lost now? THe guy is limited compared to Calzaghe who is much more adaptable, greater speed, heart, skill, etc etc

I don't rate Hopkins all that highly, to be honest, though he has an awesome lead straight right hand that needs no range-finder at all and ducks in with it to avoid anything coming back at him, beautiful to see. I just don't rate Calzaghe all that highly, either.

I actually think it is you who is spouting a load of b*llocks.

If you honestly believe Calzaghe will dismantle Hopkins you really do live in the land of cuckoo - Hopkins despite his age is a world class operator.

This is Calzaghe's 2nd toughest test to date behind only Kessler.

And it really is a complete and utter joke you consider Hopkins as a one dimensional fighter - do you really know your boxing? if Hopkins is so one dimensional why oh who throughout the years haven't other world class boxers found him out??

Yeah I know mate, you reckoned Kessler would beat Calzaghe resoundingly, you said Calzaghe makes too many mistakes. As it happened, you were very wrong. Calzaghe made no mistakes, instead he fought a great fight and took kesslers belts. We agree on with thing... in that we neither of us apparenty rate Hopkins.

Did I say, I wanted the fight.... I would say that this would be the biggest event in British boxing history. This would be the Uk version of Mayweather vs DLH - and when that fight was first mooted most people thought Floyd had gone barking mad.

And America would lap it up.... I was on a US forum when Joe defeated Lacy - this was a really respected forum with lots of boxing journo's on it from the states... the fight they wanted. Joe vs James Toney at HEAVYWEIGHT!

I would fully expect Haye to win and win comfortably and quickly - giving Haye the insentive to stay at Cruiser... and Joe taking an f all to lose attitude.

I would be a joke fight maybe.... but it would be HUGE box office.

They have mate, Hopkins is a very boring one dimensional fighter, who's lost on numerous occasions. Just dont rate the guy, never have and never will. He's lost before and now he's gunna lose again.

2 losses against Taylor in very close fights and one against RJJ to me is not a problem - other than that a loss in his very first fight is not an issue.

Taylor is a boxer through and through as is RJJ and as such they could show flaws in a lot of boxers.

Where I believe Hopkins could be troubled is POWER shots - but Calzaghe is not a singly concusive puncher and as such will rely on his speed of punch and the wily old fox called Bernard Hopkins has the necessary skills to show up some of the Calzaghe frailities that the welshman definitely has.

If Hopkins stood there and simply fought toe to toe then Calzaghe wins the fight easily by as you state speed of punch - but there is not a chance in this f*cking world of ours that Hopkins will do that.

Everytime Calzaghe comes steaming in Hopkins will try to score with his own countering jabs and combo's - if that does not work plan b will be to hold until the referee shouts break.

Lacy was too slow and Kessler was too stiff, Hopkins will reduce the output on movement alone.

Of course it will... Calzaghe will not adopt the same tactics as he did for Lacy, and Kessler was alot cuter than Lacy and Calzaghe's punch output wasn't quite as good - because of this.

Hopkins is cuter again.

And as Hopkins RIGHTLY said. If Calzaghe throws 1,000 punches - that means a 1,000 opens.

Don't get me wrong, I think Calzaghe will win clearly and comfortably, but it will be messy and Hopkins will make Joe look bad and lay fans suggesting that Joe is on decline.

The conditioning of Joe on Saturday did worry me... hope it was just the angle and everything is going smoothly.

No way does Hopkins put that fight in doubt. He will manage to nullify Joe in points, but not enough to win the rounds.

Point is mate you were way off the mark with your kessler prediction. And yet you still try to convince yourself that Calzaghe isnt all that. And according to you you dont even rate Hopkins, which we know is just a way of further trying to criticise Calzaghe. End of the day you beleived Kessler would beat Joe convincingly, you were completely wrong. And I Believe you are wrong about the outcome of Hopkins and Calzaghe. Hopkins poses virtually no threat, he's a broing inactive fighter, who is pretty predicatble in his style. He's felt the losses numerous times and he'll get another come April.
