Good win on paper, looks too open for world level - but I think he is now in the mix and should be ranked #3 in the UK and maybe a legitmate contender for a top 20/30 P4P spot.

i try my best to like Hide but everytime he does something that makes me think "what a tosser"....

hitting a guy when he is down is a dirty trick.... although Herbie of course felt the other side of the coin when he was robbed by ChinCanGo

Hide was wild as hell tonight, even when the guy was holding him he just wanted to get the fight finished.I'm surprised May didn't go down from that shot that made his eyes roll.

as spud rightly said...'raw' is the best way to describe hide tonight, but he still has the power, the equaliser, and therefore he is a big danger to maccarinelli.

Well, regardless of how outclass Enzo was on Saturday - with the 3 of them it will always be a question of who lands the punch first.

On Todays showing... I would say - No way Herbie lands first vs either of them. He was so open it was unbelievable.

Neither do I think Enzo would be the first one to land clean vs Haye - but I think there is more of a chance him landing first vs Haye - then Hide vs Enzo.

Only thing I can bring in to support Herbie's claim is that the punch he was open for tonight is not one of Enzo's pet punches... the straight right hand. Haye of course would have a field day.

There is a chance that at 36 the guy has grown up a bit outside of the ring, but once the bell goes he is an animal plain and simple, but it is easy to be harsh on Herbie for things we would cheer if another boxer did them -
Hitting round the back of the head - Hatton, Bruno, etc.
Holding with one hand hitting with the other - Skelton (alot)
I also don't think he meant to hit May when he was on the deck, more of a running punch to make sure he went down that landed when he did go down.
Herbie is a genuine top 10 cruiser now as far as I am concerned, the chance of Warren letting him anywhere near Macca is slim to none, even if a vacant title was on the line.
There are some good fight out there for him other than Macca, though he should stay well clear of David Haye!

For me Hide still hits as hard as any crusier, including Haye. So that gives him a chance against anyone.
WBA champ (I don't get that either) Firat Arslan is tough, but not that special.
IBF champ Steve Cunningham is good but not a big puncher, so Hide could win there as well.

Cunningham would outslick Hide all night, Hide is slow now, well he was when i seen him in the one before this one. Cunninghams last fight was a VERY VERY good preformance, i say 120-108 on all 3 for Cunningham. If i were his manager i would not put him in with Cunningham, but it depends on all the elements in the equasion.

Cunningham actually stopped Huck. But yes, he was very fast, boxed beautifully and looked formiddable. However, out of all the Cunningham fights, he has never looked great like that before. Is he improving? Was Huck just right for him? Steve is 31...

I think Hide should bank on his puncher's chance in fights. Fight ppl that can definitely be blown out. His hands are still pretty fast and he looks in great shape. Obviously he's not as fast as he used to be, which is very fast. I'd like to see Herbie win one of the main 4 belts at cruiser. It would validate his career a bit.

I can remember something going on a couple of years back and wondered if thats why he's based himself in Germany.

Probably not, he would just be nabbed by German Police if he was. I gues he probably used up all his options promoter wise over here and realised there was money to be made in Germany.

Hyde will certainly have a warrant out for his arrest still.

I got stopped by the police a couple of years back, and there was a warrant for my arrest from a non payment of a fine for possession of cannabis from 1993!

They didn't take me in, but they could have done if they had wanted to.

Check out the latest Boxing Monthly. There's a good feature on Hide. He apparently has to complete some community service and he says once he's got himself sorted out boxing wise he'll answer for it.
