Fact is, he deserves to be treated with respect, i don't believe keyboard warriors like Search have the right to call him a bum.

Would like to see him say it to Lockett's face and then watch as he got the fekk punched out of him.
Well said!

thanks everyone!!
Ignore him mate, he is a tosser (search, not Hooky). I'm going for Pavlik but I hope Gary does well and pass on my best wishes to the guy. As Old Bones said on another thread people have slated the guy for poor opposition now slate him for having the balls to fight Pavlik.

If I was about to fight Pavlik I'd probably break down at the signing as he is a monster, but no one is unbeatable. You cannot win the lottery without a ticket and all that.

Good luck to Gary. Pull off the upset and he is linear Champion. Not bad going.
Exactly!! Razzle Dazzle - you got to be in it to win it... !!

Yes, though im not exactly sure those wins against Karumaki and Rhodes are going to do him any good I wish him luck...

But in the same way that David Walker was outclassed againt Karmazin, Garys corner need to keep a VERY close eye on things, im not sure Kelly will be pulling punches like Roman kindly did

Interesting parallel. The only diffrence is Walker wasnt blessed with the power or talent that Gary possess at a domestic level. The problem is his ledger has no depth whatsoever to deal with the best middleweight in the world. Gary has a decent beard but can he take Pavlik type power? I only give him a punchers chance nothing more or less.

I think Lockett is a step above Walker, who was clueless against Karmazin and Moore.

I think Gary will give a good account of himself and deserves our support. Nice guy, good fighter.

And he's British. So why want him to get knocked out? We should be getting behind the guy, as most of the lads on here are. Massive test for him and he's an overwhelming underdog but at least he's getting in there to give it a go.

Search - you're about as funny as a burning orphanage.

"Dat wud be gud to seee Gawy Lockwit ged knogged oot by Kerry Pavlova, yes id wud lve that as much as my mumm tufcking me ito bedd at nite wiv my dodie"

pudendum.

Yes, but Pavlik is far better than Karmazin at elite level and punches much harder so to me the differance is the same...

I just said Lockett is a level above Walker, I didn't mention Pavlik.

Lockett is also a level above Duddy in my opinion, and Bernard Dunne, Barry Mcguigan and Daniel O'Donnell

...that'll get PocketRocket back on here quicker than you can say potato hash :TU:

Have you interviewed Gary yet?

One other question I wanted to ask is in some of his perfomances he has looked devastating (Eastman, Blundell) and in other outings he has struggled to impress (Powers, Rhodes). Does he think he can blow hot and cold? If so, why?

Oh dear Hooky, Duddy would beat Lockett up worse than Tsarenko did!! Lockett is cannon fodder before the Duddy epic!!!!!!!!!!

Now im taking my green tinted specs and my potato hash on the beer, prepare for more insightful thoughts at midnight!!!

If there's still time:

1) What do you feel are Pavlik's best attributes as a boxer?

2) Most people seem to be saying that you need the KO to win this fight. What do you have to say about that?

3) If you win, are you contracted under a 'rematch clause' with Pavlik?

Best of luck Gary!

Ali

How does Gary cope with fighting taller men?

Will the fact that it is a busy period for Enzo Calzaghe hamper preperation.

Has Lockett considered brining in Sparring partners from outside of the Calzaghe stable? If yes, who... you can mention Howard Eastman - I think the two share similar attributes.

Apart from Pavlik throws more than 2 punches around.

No what I have noticed about Pavlik is that he rarely goes to the body... Howard was a bit of a head hunter in his later career.

I didn't know winning a European junior gold booked you a shot at the undisputed professional world title.

But seriously - ask Gary what he feels he has done to deserve the fight and why he feels he has a chance

I don't think the two go hand in hand by any means but it does refute some peoples assertion that he is a BUM plucked from obscurity to fall over for a pay day which (not you) but some people are suggesting...

Whether he deserves the ranking by the WBO is neither here nor there on opponents, whether he is good enough to fight at this level is a resounding yes, he ain't another Elcock going over to get chinned and get paid well... he's going to win...

Pavlik is tall for the weight and comes forward with a crap defence so whats so crazy about him getting tagged... ?????

You're shooting yourself in the foot by on the one hand defending Lockett, but then instead of leaving it at that, sticking the knife into the reputation of another fighter. To throw accusations about like that makes you no better than those slagging Lockett.
For what it's worth I'd think Elcock would beat Lockett on points, and it's a real 50/50 fight that would split the forum down the middle I suspect.
Also, you simply can't state that Lockett is "good enough to fight at this level" because he never has and so is unproven. We'll only find out on the night.... I happen to be among those who think he's out of his depth, but of course I'd love him to spring the upset as he comes across as a good guy. Nothing to lose at this stage of his career...

Whilst I dont think Lockett has got much chance, I really wish him luck. And not just to see another British world champ, but to shut up the stupid tw*ts on this forum who are low enough to relish seeing any fighter, let alone a Brit in a world title fight, get hurt.
