I reckon Pacquiao and Marquez would both beat Guzman. I can see the fight tonight being very close though. My gut feeling is that Marquez will win if it goes to points and Manny will win if it ends early. Definitely a 50-50 fight though

I'm going for Marquez. I think he's the superior craftsman and that he may take over after a torrid start. JMM seemed to learn on the job in fight one, after getting nearly bombed out, how to find that range where he can hit Manny, but where Manny can't hit him.

He may reduce Manny again as a one handed guy who just leaps in and looks predictable. But he does have serious fire coming back at him and his right eye swells up bad every fight. Is he ready for a bloody TKO loss? Hope not.

Something Roach said in an interview suggests to me that Pacquiao will try using tactics similar to the Barrera rematch. ie boxing as tidly as possble for a decision at a speed that Marquez counter.

It's clear that Marquez's best chance is to fight an capitalise on every mistake an aggresive Pacquiao makes.
This would be a let down as i'm looking forward to the unstoppable force of nature i watched in the Thomas & Mack for the Morales rematch against the technically superior but less athletic Mexican.
It does strike me as a smart tactic though...

For those staying up through the night for this one (gonna sky + it myself) there are some fights being streamed for free by elitexc.com (Gary Shaw's MMA outfit).

It includes former heavweight contendre Jeremt Williams in a MMA match and the main event promises to be a decent stand up war featuring the always entertaining Phil Baroni.

I know MMA isnt everyone's cup of tea but if you are up all night it may provide some entertainment in between the fights on setanta:

I am a long standing MArquez fan and would like to see his slick counter punching secure him the win but he just might be a little long in the tooth for Pac Man now.

PAc Man UD for me.

I had Marquez winning 7-5 in rds making it a 1 point margin due to the knockdown.

Pac didn't win that fight.

Watching this now and after round 9 I got Marquez winning 87-83, his punches are much cleaner.

116-111 to Marquez.

Marquez won that handily. Poor decision. Was gonna have a big punt on Marquez points but fee asleep! So glad as I'd be fuming now. 'Pac Man' got the decision as he's the more marketable fighter. No way on God's green earth did he do enough to win that fight.

Reckless fast hands Is hardly greatness, counter punching from Maquez was more great. :TU: :box:

Pac has no answer for straight right hands.

Wow when were not talking about Witter-Hatton we can all agree, I had it 7-5 Marquez with a deduction for the KD.

My Card:

1. Marquez
2. Marquez
3. Pac 10-8
4. Pac
5. Marquez
6. Marquez
7. Marquez
8. Pac
9. Pac
10 Pac
11 M
12 M

BUT Pacquaio won his rounds wider so I dont have a prob with him edging an SD, he could have had the 11th which I gave to Marquez

It just felt like JMM was the better. With him winning the last round as well, he just appeared to cement a great fight.

Pac will move up, JMM can win back his WBC belt & maybe have a war with underrated Humberto Soto. Soto should forget that Fana fight.

JMM never dominated a round (other than was it 6 or 7?), all of the rounds he won were fairly close, I was gunning for JMM and wanted him to win and he disapointed. I thought Marquez would get robbed if he didnt dominate given it was an Arrum card

Guzman beats them both if he gets his shot. Why would you want to see JMM fight Guzman leftovers in Soto?

I think Soto has more future at 130 than Guzman what with him being able to make the weight a bit easier. Also, i don't just seem Humberto as leftovers. I just love his style of fighting, and though he wasn't fast enough to beat Guzman, I think he'll do well vs other styles. (I mean, even Alexis Argeullo could lose to a good mover). Nice straight puncher, lots of power, still seems fresh. Think he would be able to aggravate the scar tissue of Marquez. Soto is better than a lot of the world champs in the game and he's a bit unlucky not to have gotten the 3 WBC title shots that he won elims for.

Also, maybe Arum would like to have his guy Soto beat up the fighter that left him, Marquez.

IMO Guzman moves up to lightweight after Arthur. Also, i feel Guzman is so tricky that he doesn't really make for great fights.

Bastard judges, had Marquez on points at the bookies and should have cleared up. They gave it to the box office fighter - good fight though & that was a hell of a left hook JJM went down from.

Fair enough, I only see Guzman going to lightweight if there is a big fight for him. I'm sure many would say Marquez style doesnt make for great fights before he fought Pac. Guzman isnt a runner and he likes to go toe to toe at times

I think Marquez beats Soto, I want to see the top2 at the weight fight - JMM and Guzman.

Just watched it. I had it 115-114 Marquez. I found the commentators a little anti-Pacman at times.

What a fight! Pissed off I decided not to go.

8 rounds to 4, Marquez. Thought he bossed the fight, pretty much from start to finish. The knockdown brought things a little closer, but Marquez had an answer for every single thing Pacquiao attempted. Really gutted about that decision.

Great fighter?

A wild crazy man with no jab who is constantly off balance and countered every 2 seconds?

To call him great is an insult to greatness.

YOU DO NOT FOOL ME - HITMAN HATTON1 IS JUST TALKING ABOUT HIM BEING GREAT BECAUSE YOU KNOW RICKY HATTON IS GOING TO CHASE AFTER THE FORMER SUPERFLYWEIGHT, BOTTOM LINE IS HE IS WILD AND STRONG AND SMALL.

JMM won that fight last night.

8-4

An insult to greatness!? The man has just done the trilogy of hall of famer Mexicans in Barerra twice, Morales twice and Marquez, and his career still has a bit to go yet. You have a lightweight belt and a potential fight with Ricky Hatton in his future. Not all great fighters have to be slicksters or master counter punchers.

Personally I had it 114-113 Marquez but thought it could of went either way. I don't know how one judge had it 115-112 for Pacquiao though.

Pacman is not GREAT!

He is fast and strong and wild. Lets see him beat Guzman.

Sorry - I will never say PAC is a GREAT fighter OR Boxer.

A lightweight belt and POTENTIAL fight with Hatton? so?

Sorry - Pac is effective at being fast and wild.

This is boxing and he is not a great Boxer.

He did better last night than he did in the first fight where he only won 2 rounds!

Roberto Duran is a great FIGHTER.

Pac is effective but not what O cal great fighter.

We will have to disagree.

PS, check out the wear and tear on...

Morales - Barrera and JMM when Pacman fought them - oits a basic Senior tour.

1sr barrear fight was a good victory and the 1st Morales fight was god as was the 2nd.

I respect what he has done but just do not think he is GREAT at anything other than power.

Sorry.

Pacman is a four weight world champion who's beaten Marquez, Barrera x2, Morales x2, Larios, Solis, Velazquez and 3K in the last 4.5 years.

He's one of the best, most exciting, "small" fighters I've ever seen.

:TU:

Imagine if he beats Diaz on 21st June!!
