Lockett seemed like a down-to-earth, articulate, no bullshit person on the Setanta interview. He was totally realistic and sounded determined. Hope he does himself proud in there. He is in for a hard contest.

I really can't see Gary winning this one, unless he gets lucky with a big shot. But you never know. I'd be delighted for him if he did though.

I think Gary's lost some enthusiasm for the game, but I'm sure this fight has rekindled his interest!

But so was Monzon, Pavlik reminds me of Monzon, nothing spectacular but very effective 1-2 from the outside, solid on the inside while being strong, constant punching machine with a tight guard.

Not been a great start for the Calzaghe stable but with JC, Froch, Witter, Arthur etc fighting soon, it could be even better than 2007 for British boxing.

A very honest interview. Actually I support all of Enzos fighters and nothing would please me more than for Gary to cause an upset and beat Kelly Pavlik. Lockett has a superb record with a good KO ratio but I think Pavlik will just be too much for him. I have to say I was surprised when this fight was announced. I thought the only Brit in Pavliks sights would be JC. Pavlik after Hopkins and a final fight in Cardiff for Joe did look and still looks a strong possibility. I like this fight, even though GL doesn't really deserve a shot, based on results, but it's got an old time feel about it - the undisputed middleweight champ, boxings classic division, taking on all comers.

Can't knock KP either, he's taken out the divisions top talent over the last 4 fights, and deserves a showcase type fight. Plus it's bound to be a slugfest.

And I say undisputed because AA shouldn't be considered until he comes out of Germany and takes on Pavlik.

Agreed, Pavlik is uindisputed so a win for Lockett would amke him the undisputed linear champ at 160.

even though technically not undisputed & he wouldn't win all the belts he would be undisputed champ in terms of the line (as you guys say) as he'd be the man who beat the man, who beat the man..

Abraham has effectively picked up the fragmented version after Pavlik was tripped of WBA/IBF

Can anyone tell me why that happened by the way as Taylor held them all and Pavlik beat him...? is it just the politics of where those organisations ranked Pavlik..?

If that is the case I could see the WBC stripping Gary if he wins, any thoughts..?

Politics and $$$ of course - I think Taylor was stripped for taking the Hop rematch, and AA picked up a half arsed vacant title. Abrahams a good fighter though, he might even beat Pavlic if they ever met - but he's no way a real world champ till that happens, and he's been given another pigeon to knock off tomorrow night.

Can't see Gary pulling off the upset though - his only slim chance seems to be to ambush an ususpecting Pavlic with best punch he's ever thrown.
Pavlic's got a very good chin though.
