Surprising that a boxer who spars regularly in the Kronk has no idea what to do when someone gets on the inside.

I was impressed by his sharpness & accuracy on the backfoot. Seems to have all the defensive deficiencies of Wladimir.

I think Darren Barker has adapted way better to the pros than Lee, despite losing to Lee in the amas. Looking at Barker-Bendall, Barker may have been a tad too patient and allowing his left hook to get tied up. But he was balanced, composed and throwing proper pro shots every time.

Lee hasn't been turned into a pro. He is a right hook-left cross southpaw.

Lee could have done with fighting some fighters like Ben Crampton - the guy Barker dominated for the Commonwealth middle title. Crampton was hard as nails, hard to hit clean after being hurt early, and never stopped driving forward. Lee needed to have fought tough guys that keep on trying, and who you can't just blast out of there when you feel like it.

I had only seen the youtubes until the Channel 5 rerun last night. Lee was getting tagged badly in the seventh but was returning fire, legs were still solid and was still using the ring.

He was ahead on the cards and if he had made it through the few seconds that were left in the seventh could have regrouped.

I am not saying he wouldnt have been stopped but we havent got a crystal ball and the stoppage was very early.

I must say though that Andy looked alot stiffer in his last couple of fights, then when he started out in the pro's, he seemed more fluid then.

He looked like a fuckin ponce before the fight - smiling and waving to people in the crowd and pointing out people he recognised.

No way was the stoppage fair MO. As Tessotore said, Lee was throwing punches.

I'm all for stopping a fight to save the fighter, but only when that fighter is in danger and isn't defending themselves or throwing punches.

This is the first time I've seen Andy fight, but I have to say I'm not impressed. His right hand was way too low at times, and he didn't make the most of his jab (what is it with Steward fighters not jabbing more?!?!).

Maybe it will help him. How the eff Steward can say he's a HoF fighter is beyond me. I'm starting to wonder whether the fight game is getting too much for Steward as a trainer.

Fair stoppage or not, he made an easy fight hard, and he got caught WAY too much.

Stoppages like that will keep our sport going!

Lee's defence is piss poor, after watching that i cannot believe that he gets the better of Taylor in sparring.

Watched the fight now, and i thought the stoppage may have been a bit quick, but Lee looked gone.
Brian Vera , you got to like him. How many left hands did he walk through? He showed great heart to stay in there, he isn't going to be a world champion, but you can't help feeling happy for the guy getting his moment in the sun.

As for Andy Lee, i said earlier that he can come back, and he may do, but something definatly didn't look right with him. He was in complete charge for three and a half rounds , then it was like a switch went off in his legs. it wasn't any 1 big shot that Vera landed, but Lee just slowly started to fall apart. Teddy Atlas called it right when he said Andy needed to follow up his left hands with a right hook. It looked like Andy thought Vera would go if he just kept landing the one shot instead of following it up.

Lee was fooked from the 4th onwards

Looks like were back to hoping the next irish world champion will be Brian Magee!!!

I think hes the best of a bad lot.

Maybe steve collins could come out of retirement.

I'd have more faith in an untested McCloskey than on Magee!

Martin Lindsay is a cracking little fighter and is one of my favourites to watch domestically.

What is the deal with the fights in Canada?

Does anyone know his management team's strategy for the coming 12 months? He should be moving forward and looking to make his mark on the British scene - he has the talent from what I have seen of him.
