Yeah, I remember that. That was ridiculous. Whenever you have refs in places where there's not a lot of big time boxing, stuff like that sometimes happens.

Roger Tilleman who was the ref for Sven Ottke and Robin Reid in 2003. He was awful. The ref warned Reid for landing clean jabs. Reid clearly floored Ottke but he ruled it a slip then after Ottke butted Reid he deducted a point.....off Reid ???

I had Reid clearly winning. Duke Mckenzie who was commentating said it was the worst ref he had ever seen and in the post fight interview Reid said even if his own mum and mates were the judges he doubts he would have got the decision in Germany against Ottke.

Have a look at some footage in rounds 6 and 7.....disgusting !!!

Jack Reiss in the Edgar Cardenas and Daniel Reyes fight.

Reyes was out of it from early on, and the ref just let the other guy tee off on him for round after round - sickening stuff, he should have been arrested.

i was going to watch the youtube footage but then i remembered i once said i would never ever watch the contemptible robin reid fight again.

Eddie Cotton was a joke: he did everything to make sure that Tyson lasted.

It's just fortunate for Tyson that Lewis was so cautious, othwerwise he would have been destroyed in about 3 & Cotton probably would have burst into tears!!!

That ref was Andrew Smyth from England.

The ref-judge in Ellis vs Patterson was incompetent...his judgement was wrong and Ellis was Knocked down, which was ruled as a slip.

Paul Cavalier in Zale-Graziano III, Rocky gets up completly on queer street, Cavalier wipes his gloves and lets the slaughter continue.

I don't think Cotton was that bad in Lewis-Tyson. Lennox was doing a shitload of holding and Cotton was one of the few referees to actually enforce the rules. But later on in the fight he did seem to be favoring Mike a little.

i don't know how many of you have seen the first juan coggi-eder gonzalez fight in '93. it is one of the most disgusting displays of cheating ever. the fight was in argentina, coggi's home country. my description of the fight will not do it justice. gonzalez knocked down coggi in the second round with a big right hand and the fight should have been over. the ref stops the fight for a few minutes so coggi can clear the cobwebs. this is for a title also. coggi's cornerman is holding him up in the corner by his trunks. gonzalez starts to come at him and the bell rings 30 seconds early to end the round. coggi regains is legs and comes back to ko gonzalez in the 7th. gonzalez never became champ. the wba needs to change that even now. the ref that night was isidro rodriguez. he probably feared for his life. i need to post this on youtube. i have the dvd.

The guy on ESPN from the early 80s with the slips. Talk about home-town referee! I wish I'd remember the guy's name. That one was the worst. In terms of historical perspective, I'd have to say Richard Steele in Chavez vs. Taylor. I see Steele often and like him, but there's a part of me that has a hard time forgiving him for that one.

There's a video on the best of ESPN boxing where they show clips from that early 80s fight were the ref calls every knockdown a slip. It's pretty insane.

This one was despicable. But it was like everyone was in on it. The timekeeper, the ref, the cornermen, the doctor. Coggi was dead to the world and the ref actually allowed Coggi's corner to stand behind him in the corner on the ring apron, holding Coggi up while Gonzalez teed off on him, while they waited for the premature bell which they all apparently knew was coming. I believe the 3rd and 4th rounds were shortened rounds also.

Arthur Mercante for letting Foreman get away with constantly pushing Frazier away in their first fight.

The pushing was a very effective, though illegal, tactic that prevented Joe from getting to the inside of Foreman's punching radius.

Bonavena got away with some of the same pushing crap against Frazier. I always wondered if the Foreman camp learned from the Bonavena-Frazier fight films.

I know it was recent, but the ref in that Juan Diaz vs. Nate Campbell fight sure did seem to have it in for Campbell. He kept staring him down like a fighter at a press conference.
