Aldo Rios - not a massive puncher, has had title shots before (Johnston and Hatton at 140)

It wont be Rios, i remember when Rios spanked Jason Cook, Warren will be scared he will do a repeat performance with Khan, not saying Cook is anywhere near as good as Khan, but Rios is big, and has mixed with Hatton.

Zoff is on a losing run and in his 40's, not sellable at all.

Larios I dont see happening, he's a featherweight, but he fought Pacman at 130, so maybe he can put the 5lbs on and meet khan, not much of a challenge, but he might show him a few tricks.

Didn't Rios Fail a drugs test after the Cook fight? Might have had sometinhg to do with tthe usually light punching Rios walking through Cook that night.

those guys, lol. Jauregui and Larios would eat Khan for breakfast, I don;t care how past it they are, if they can hang for a few rounds they'll knock him out. the gulf is huge. Tough, mean world level operators who have mixed with the best and hung tough with all of them, with good high level wins.

I just want to see him in a tough fight. Getting bored of watching him now as it's allways the same story, non punchers that kahn can bully. How about putting him in with someone his own size and weight who can dig a little and can give Kahn a good fight as i said its getting boring now.

Dont forget his next fight will likely be for the WBO intercontinental title so the opponent will have to be ranked by the WBO top 15....I think top 15 anyway.

Of course as I write this I realise with the WBO no names do seem to conveniently enter the rankings fight a Sports network fighter than then disappear from the rankings forever more hahahaha listen to me being all cynical there.

disagree with you.........the guy is entitled to a CAREER........can could have probably gone a few rounds and got busted up by a world champion 2 or 3 years ago........does that mean he should do just so people can turn around (by people I mean pointless detractors with nothing better to do)....and say I told you so .....it's nonsense.

World Class is something that anyone with an ounce of sense will realise doesn't just materialise over night, it must be nurtured..(that word's gonna come right back and bite I know it!!).

Some idiots on here were sure Earl would bust Khan up even though there was little evidence to think so........so when he skipped that hurdle they go on to the next big name......look at Juan Diaz.......everyone's stopped talking about that guy just because he got done in. Nate Campbell's the 36 yr world champ and to me I don't think there's a 36 year old on the block that would handle Khan's pressure and speed......not easily anyway.

Just because Amir Khan is capable of grinding these guys down and putting together an impressive ledger doesn't make them all stiffs it's pure crap.

He is moulding himself into a world champion which involves gaining experience and ironing out mistakes. There is absolutely no reason why people should be expecting him to fight XYZ champion at this stage. And as for all this Jon Thaxton lark........Thaxton goes the same way as Earl for me but when that happens the naysayers on here will conveniently foget they said Thaxton would smash him and will start going on about Katsidis, Romanov bla bla bla.

It's obvious the Kristjansen fight was only for the WBO rating. But having the Dane at #2 in the world is just plain crazy - he was not world class - and because Khan has the flashy rating, he won't fight anyone that can hit, because he has to protect his rating as he waits for a title shot/vacant title.

It means - IMHO - at least 2 rubbish fights in a row. This after the progress of the Earl (puncher, faded) and St Clair (experienced, too small).

Yuri Romanov didn't get nurtured. He fvcking carved his way through Britain's best fighters, overcame a couple of dodgy performances to smash up the European champion (the talented Melero) and dismantle Thaxton, not just talk about it as if he already has.

Now, if Khan were to fight someone beatable, tough, experienced, without a big punch, who holds a win over Campbell...Isaac Hlatshwayo maybe? If he comes over with little notice, maybe. But probably still too dangrous if Khan is waiting for a title shot.

Oisin Fagan, the Irish kid, would give him a run for his money. I think he's due back Ireland this summer. I think Khan would probaby be too much for himbut you can never rule out the Irish kid's MAD HEART!

Someone who forces him to realise what his strengths are - movement, great jab (that he always wastes by using it to lead into a flurry of shoeshining leaving himself open to counters, rather than using it as an end in itself - which it really should be) and hand speed.

And, more importantly, someone to make him realise what his strengths aren’t - ie power. I’m actually a fan of his and I think he’ll eventually do very well but he seems to talk a lot and often boxes as though power is his prime asset. That frustrates me. Maybe it’s normal for a 21 year old to want to think he’s a hard hitter but he’s not - who’s he been sparring with?? I also think a lot of the shots he seems to be open to wouldn’t be there if he can just relax a bit and move behind his jab rather than always being on the verge of an attack.

So ideally I’d like to see his next two fights up against hard headed guys with enough power to scare him into boxing to his strengths but not enough to give him a setback before he’s had a chance to learn his lessons. I agree that Cherry would be a good choice. Is that likely to be made easily?

Katsidis would be a good matchup, At least if Khan wins we will know he has a chin and can fight under pressure.
Not sure if Warren would risk it though as Khan might get sparked and Warren would need another cash cow.

I don't think it has any chance of happening soon unless Katsidis gets a belt.

Khan needs to be properly tested if he is to fight Campbell/Casamayor in the fight after next.

Yes, maybe they could hype Hlatshwayo better than Chavez, but what he needs is someone who can hit a bit. He needs someone who can put the fear of god into him.

He doesn't want the preparation that Maccarinelli had for the biggest fight of his career - he needs a puncher, with stamina and toughness.... a bigger, strong version of Gary St Clair would surfice... irrespect of his "sellability".

Thats why I say Cherry or maybe Chavez.

Someone with a pulse preferably in the top ten, I know it's a big jump since he has'nt beat anyone in the top fifty yet but it's sink or swim time in my book Anthony Peterson gets my vote good record on paper 26/0
