This sounds strange coming from a Marciano supporter.
-Why does it matter what color of skin they were?
-They weren't midgets.
Marvin Hart was almost 6ft, and weighed about 190. He was a little bigger than Rocky Marciano.
Kid McCoy was 5'11, and Philadelphia Jack O'Brien was 5'10-5'11.
True, Sharkey was only 5'8 and Burns was 5'7. However they each had a lot of success against taller opponents.
Most importantly, Denver Ed Martin's career doesn't match these guys.
By far the biggest name that he beat was Sam McVey. However McVey had only 2 years of pro experience at the time and knocked Martin out the other 3 times that they fought. McVey was about 5'10.
Besides McVey, the other guys beat better fighters than Martin did.
Sharkey beat Goddard (6'0), Choynski, McCoy, James Corbett (6'1) and gave Jeffries (6'2) and 220 a lot of trouble.
Burns beat Hart and O'Brien.
Hart beat Ruhlin (6'2) and Johnson (6'1)
McCoy beat Ruhlin,Maher, and Choynski.
None of these guys were legends as heavyweights, but they were better than Denver Ed Martin. Level 4 is as high as he deserves to be.
