For me Oliver Harrison is one of the most under-rated trainers in this country. I have always rated him both as a trainer and as a person - I honestly believe he has done wonders with the likes of Jamie Moore and I would even go as far as to say Amir Khan has progressed very nicely under Harrison's instructions.
I think Amir Khan will be bloody nuts to leave Harrison - absolutely f*cking barking mad.
And for all of you who state these American trainers will be great for some of the more technical aspects of the sport for Amir Khan - I honestly cannot see where Oliver Harrison is going wrong - yeah yeah many of you will see flaws in Khan's style etc etc - we could do that about many boxers!!!
For me there is a MASSIVE problem with Amir Khan - that is his celebrity life style!!!

Could be- a lot of sportsmen have driving "issues," struggling with the motorway etc. Earlier this week John Arne-Riise got in trouble heading in the wrong direction.
although he wasn't in his car at the time!

I certainly think you're right that Khan has gone through a change of personality, for the worse. He seems so uber confident in himself these days, and it all makes for painful reading.
And, of course, you're right to say that it's possible to point out faults in any boxer's style.
However, Khan has truely outstanding gifts of physique, natural athleticism, speed and timing, and I'm really not sure he's progessing the way he should be. His power, in my view, isn't coming on, his ring craft still has large dollops of amateur-style mixed in, and his defense is a big enough concern that I don't see him winning a major title against a genuinely world class fighter without significant improvement.
Harrison's record is excellent on a British level, and he has indeed worked wonders with Moore, who is surely one of our most underrated boxers. However, there's no way anyone can tell me Harrison could get KHan to where he needs to be more effectively than Freddie Roach.
Roger Mayweather's a different case because he would likely send Khan back to the drawing board and set his development back a year or two. But if Khan is willing to put up with that (which I doubt he would be) he has to tools to become a Mayweather-style fighter.
I really think moving to the Wild Card and having the likes of Paquiao to spar with -- and Vasquez in a gym nearby -- would be only good for the kid. As long as Freddie has the time to devote to him.
And you never know, Spud. Moving to You Ess and A might actually be good for him. Afterall, he's simply not a star there, and he'd have to prove himself all over again. And if you really want him to eat some humble pie, set him working with someone like Naazim Richardson: that'll sort the men out from the boys.
Just my view.

I take it he sparred with Floyd snr. not Floyd jr. then

..I understand Floyd snr. was just a big asshole in his youth.
Does this mean he`ll be hoping for Mayweather to get him in with GoldenBoy? .. hope so .. GoldenBoy won`t spoon feed him stiffs like he has been so far .. his career is being mirrored just like old Fr-Audleys

That fact Khan is undefeated, has actually looked good and has won titles should tell you that your statement is wrong.
There's no comparison between Harrison and Khan.

Carbo,
The reason why Khan has done so well thus far has got one hell of a lot to do with Oliver Harrison - I have raved about this bloke for years!!!
When I actually thought Hatton was going to dump Graham - I could not think of a better person to take on the job.
I have been in the dressing room with my lad watching and listening carefully how Harrison prepares his fighters and what a calming influence he has over every single one of them - in addition the sound and to the point advice he gives them.
I completely concur with your comments on the positive aspects of Khans make up - clearly in my view he is a very good boxer indeed but this whole thing for me stinks.
Out of everyone - whether it be Khan, the media, his family and the boxing fans for me it is Amir Khan who is the impatient one - it is Amir Khan who is NOT listening to the right people - he has gone to Vegas seen the bright lights - listened to bullsh*tters in the gyms - sampled the big fight atmosphere and the hype that goes with it in the media - and thought I want this - nothing wrong with that - but instead of being patient in my view he thinks for whatever reason he has a god given right to it right now.
Amir Khan has one hell of a lot to learn and despite what any of you write on here - I believe Frank W arren has got it spot on by not rushing Khan - and I believe Khan thinks he has arrived in the BIG league now and thus in my opinion the people that really count like his bloody good trainer Oliver Harrison it seems Khan is intent on dumping him - WRONG move and very BAD move in my view - certainly at this stage anyhow.
There was an interview I recently seen that I choked on my cup of tea when listening to it - it was Khans business manager if that is his title - "We are going global" - who the f*ck is he?? - let the lad prove he is a hit on the world class front before you go f*cking global - look at Hatton from that perspective he got his career path spot on!!!
And there are many of you lot on here who say boxing is not about money!!!

Maybe Khan wasn`t as good an amateur as Audley .. Audley after all won at the Olympics
But..
Audley too was fighting smaller boxers in his 17th fight .. even his 18th and 19th
Audley won the world title in his 15th fight .. Khan only won the commonwealth in his 13th .. is there any real difference in any of these titles? .. I`d argue not
Audley had 12 stoppages in his first 17fights - only one less than Khan has
Both conned the terrestrial TV stations they 1st signed with .. both got dumped asap
Audley had Buncey doing the tongue&groove down the back of his trousers ..Khan has McGuigan
I don`t need to remind anybody of the comparable trash that both spouted.
So Mrs Khan .. I mean Carbo .. there does seem to be alot to pick up on
Maybe if Audley had Fwank he`d have been able to milk it longer ..

The timing is probably right, to be fair, after his last performance. They better choose well though, because it could make or break him.

I hate to say it, but Spud, that is spot on.
I get particulalry annoyed about this 'Business Manager' nonsense.
This is a guy who has no experience in the sport. He would have got nowhere near the game had he not been related to Khan.
I have no problem with anyone looking after their family and giving them a job. I would do the same thing. But it really sticks in my throat when they walk around acting like they are god and spouting major BS.

Oliver has dumped Amir - or at least that's what I'm hearing.
Don't rule out this as a psychological move on Oliver's part to make Amir realise he ain't the real deal yet.
Don't rule out a kiss and make up, followed by a more focused Khan.

Thats not really a good comparisson, though. Say what you like about Khan, but the guy is POPULAR. His most recent ITV show got really good viewing figures.
The problem iwht Harrison on TV was that his fights were pretty boring, and generally unpopular. This is not the case with Khan.

I can only hope I'm a bit slow on the uptake here, and have missed the piss-taking. I wouldn't argue that Khan has been over-publicised, but to compare him unfavourably with Audley? Give over. He may not have fought the best, but he's heading the right way. Audley conned everyone. We can all argue until we're blue in the face about the best route for Amir, but I can at least beleive he's prepared to fight the best. I could never say that about Audley. It may well be the worst possible strategy for Khan, but I do believe him when he says he'll fight anyone.

That comparison is BS as you have not taken into account of the age difference between two.
Khan actually did pretty well on ITV compared to Audley on BBC.

Khan needs someone to tighten up his defense, inside game and general professionalism in the ring. Oliver Harrison seemingly can't do this. Who could be better than Floyd Sr?

God knows that I've made some bad boxing analysis in my time, and said some things that were really pretty tenuous looking back, but Jesus that's horrendous.
Sure, Khan's career has been tightly managed, as was Harrison's, but the comparisons end there.
First, Harrison looked simply awful in his fights. There were a few in which he looked like he had potential, but his early fights were marked by the amateurism and palpable caution of his performances. Khan has generally fought a better caliber of oppenent and looked better at doing it. It was apparent from the start to most sane boxing obervers that Aud was never going to make it, whereas Khan has clear potential. Furthermore... oh, f*ck it, I can't be bothered to explain if you still don't get it.
I understand that now you've set your stall out you have to defend it, but arguing the toss when you've been caught out just makes you look more like what the Russians would call a durak.
And spud, I wasn't having a go at Harrison. I'm a great fan. I think he's an excellent coach. But comparing him to Freddie Roach is rather like comparing David Moyes to Arsene Wenger, in my view. Khan would do very well to stay with Harrison, but I think in terms of coaching and sparring, he would do better at the Wild Card. That's my only point.
