If he moves down in weight having fought at 175 I think there will be more signs of him being a jaded old fighter. If Froch gets a weakened Calzaghe, those little slappy shots won't mean anything and Froch may be abe to outgun him.
froch is too open and disjointed to beat a guy like calzaghe.
far too sloppy to cope with joe.
froch is tough so i reckon he'd go all the way.
no way would he win a decision though.

but what if he nailed calzaghe on the chin a few times......i would suggest he could turn calzaghes lights out !!!
the question is if he could nail joe those few times !!!

Kessler hurt Joe several times. Kessler's a calm, controlled boxer who had to get out his comfort zone and turn puncher. He did pretty well in that fight, though Calzaghe proved he was a modern great pulling out the win.
However, Froch is a natural puncher. He won't have to fight out of character to drop bombs. And if he jars Joe with right hands I'll bet he'll follow through with the nasty left hooks, to create the kind of two-fisted assault neessary to derail Joe.
Time after time the opponent only throws right hands. Froch seems like he can bang with either hand. There is always the risk of him just picking his shots and getting outworked but there is also the chance of Froch hitting Joe with a bomb and following through with a sustained attack. Froch is the bigger bloke and I just have a feeling that he won't be worried about Calzaghe's inside-of-the-glove cuffing too much.
Froch may be open and disjointed. It must be a British super middleweight thing because so is Joe!

Took quite a long time though. What will Joe's legacy be - beating prime Lacy & Kessler, fighting many poor WBO defences, beating on just-past-it versions of Brewer, Mitchell and Woodhall?
How do we really take Joe's messy win over Hopkins? Does he get praise for finding a way into the fight - in his first bout in America, at 175-lbs - or does he get penalised for not decisively beating a much older man?
Joe is a controversial fighter and always will be. He's been very successful, but now that ppl are calling him out, will he answer the call?

Since when Is Froch counted as one of the best, Joe would box his head very one sided.
All Froch did to get to WBC No1 was through spouting his mouth on Tv and Press releases and beating domestic level fighters.
Calzaghe's had some bad names on his list, but why do we have double standards for Froch?

Froch has KO'd or TKO'd good fighters Magee and Tatevosyan.
He was set to face Inkin twice, and Inkin ducked him twice, and is now trying to get Berrio the former IBF titlist.
A lot of ppl think someone you like has got something to do with persuading Inkin to pull out!

Magee's overrated, Oakey beat him but Magee got a gift draw and he duck Barbosa who Dodson beat, I'd say Dodson Is Froch's best win.
Tatevosyan probably only had 2-3 weeks to prapare at best as Hennessey was looking for an opponent for Froch's last year march date before choosing Tatevosyan.
He was probably still recovering off the Bute beating and the stoppage was contriversial.
A lot of ppl think someone you like has got something to do with persuading Inkin to pull out!
Haha, I would prefer to persuade Frank to pay Froch well Incase he ever got a beating off Joe.

I disagree that Magee got a gift vs Oakey.

And yet Calzaghe had no qualms about having Magee as a voluntary title defence. Fight got called off, of course, due to Mario Veit promoters, Universum being wankers who thought Joe was going to vacate the title that made him.

Dodson, Barney, Magee, Reid and Tatevosyan all of them have caviats but all have class and offer different poblems Froch had to over come.

Froch has cleaned out the domestic scene.
I spoke to Tatevosyan at the Froch presser and he didn't have a blemish on him - infact he didn't after dancing with Bute for 12 rounds.
I suggest anyone who thinks Tatevosyan was beaten to a pulp will be very suprised if they actually watch the fight - it was like Khan vs Gary st Clair. One was tough and the other was a slicker boxer.
Magee was a great fight - Froch had snapped his thumb clean at the base in the second round and still chillingly smoked Magee. The same Magee who Joe backed out of fighting and fought Mario Veit AGAIN instead - Froch offered to fly over and take the fight instead and Magee turned him down.
Dodson pulled out 3 times himself. Inkin has pulled out twice... Robin Reid called out Froch and then went MIA when they accepted the fight.
Froch fought Robin without any roadwork prep or running of any sort. His dodgy leg was 2 months fresh of the operating table and he still had another 4 months of rehab on it when he smoked Reid in 5 rounds.
Some other fighters break a nail and call off a scrap - Joe has swerved 5 fights himself (Johnson x 3, Lacy x 1 , Magee x 1)
I'd like to see any other boxer take up a fight 2 months after an Anterior Cruciate Ligament repair job.
You can call all his opponents to date, but he smoked the lot of them.
He hasn't been put down 3 or 4 times nor has any split decisions over his name.
He wants to fight everyone and anyone and apart from David Haye, i think that attitude has died a death on these shores of late.

Froch has beaten better men in non-world title fights than some of Calzaghe's "world title" defences.....and he's looked a damn sight better in doing do. I watched Calzaghe v Hopkins for first time last night....utter crap!

Frankly I see Kessler making a great comeback and cleaning up. Froch would lose to the Kessler we saw against Joe and the fight does seem quite likely whereas Calzaghe/Froch is never going to happen. Froch is exciting to watch because of his big punch but I think he will struggle against world class opponents with his open style. Kessler is accurate and heavy handed as well so I think he would be too much for Froch to handle.

Lacy destroyed that version of Reid while Froch was put off balance eating right hands before finally making Reid pull out. It wasn't a smoking.
To be honest I don't expect much from you these days but Carl won the British and Commonwealth titles and fought guys who have been around the block. He was then due to fight a guy in a similar boat to him for his title shot.
His pre-title road is not entirely dissimilar to current Champion Joe Calzaghe, who also grabbed British and fought decent British guys with the odd foreign fighter thrown in. Only Joe did not go for the Commonwealth title, he fought those types of fight once he became title holder.
Joe looked way more Impressive on the way up then Froch has, Carl was counter punched by shot fighters and guys like Westerman and Magee at times.
He thinks he's Roy Jones with that daft style.

Super-middleweight wannabe Carl Froch says he thinks Hopkins beat Calzaghe - but he should concentrate on his own career, which hasn’t exactly progressing at a stellar pace.
Froch has had just 22 fights in six years, and at 30, is five years older than when Calzaghe first became a world champion.
He was supposed to fight Dennis Inkin in an eliminator next month but even that's been called off. After the Lord Mayor's show and all that.
http://www.allegedly.tv/drill/News/Ar ... right.html
Froch could of done more In 6 years while Joe did grab the WBO In 4 years as a pro, If Froch was a talent that he's made out to be, he could of grabbed a belt faster.

Froch would smoke Joe's boots and go one better then Calzaghe and stop Kessler.

No max your completely wrong mate.
Froch was at 70% following his operation - Reid had a full 10 weeks proper preparation.
Against Lacy, Robin trained by the poolside and after the fight didn't have a mark on him - they pulled him out because of the amount of point deductions.
Carl did him in 5 proper...Lacy took 7.

I hope we get to see Froch-Lacy at some point, it's not advisable for either at the moment, but it would be a cracker between 2 BIG punching solid chinned chinned SMW's

Would Carl gain anything from it? Lacy has looked a pale comparison of the 2005/06 version.

on the way up Joe looked like a cross between an octopus and a cranefly, the way he fought.
His stoppage of Delaney was a great result, but one of the worst technical performances I've ever seen from a fighter who would go on to win wolrd titles at two weights.

I was referring to the clash of styles and the excitement I think the fight would produce, as I said it's not advisable for either at the moment, but maybe when Carl picks up the WBC title (after sparking Kessler) and Lacy picks up a decent win or 2

I fail to see how Calzaghe's career path prior to winning a vacant title from a weight drained veteran compares to Froch.
Carl has taken on all comers as British and Commonwealth champion and impressed in doing so. Calzaghe boxed reasonable british title opponents in Wilson and Delaney and that's it. Even allegedly claimed he could have beaten the Brazilian fellow with the impressive stats.
No comparison!
