Years ago long after that fight,I saw Douglas being interviewed on the Howard Stern Show. Don't usually watch that guy,but I wanted to hear Buster. He's starting his comeback and is sitting there with his new manager. The manager looked like a gangster rapper. Well Stern asks Buster how much he cleared for fighting Tyson.
"Well there was the promoter's cut,my manager's,the trainers got their end. Money went to promoting. The air travel back and forth. And miscellanious stuff. I cleared 600 dollars."
Stunned silence. The kicker was that Buster didn't think he got screwed! After Stern explained to him that he got swindled,Buster starts putting on an angry look. He turns to this little wormy manager and says,"After this is over we're gonna' have a talk."

Supposedly, Douglas got paid more for that farce than any other defending champion in history (at least up till that time, anyway). That "miscellaneous stuff" was probably all the cars and yachts he bought in anticipation of the payday.

Stern has had some awesome interviews...If I drove more I would have followed him to sattelite...I have heard him interview Dan Marino and Chris Collinsworth, Ringo Starr, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Joe and Marvis Frazier...

This was before the Tyon fight and Joe said "you have to hit him back"...In other words you can't be intimidated...Howard asked Marvis about his fight with Tyson...He said when the ref asked him if he knew where he was after being knocked out he said "mommy, can I get off the potty now."
