I'm not very fond of John Rawling either but I can't pinpoint exactly why. I suppose I just think that he doesn't seem to project any genuine passion or enthusiasm for the events going on in the ring, if that makes any sense.

Too cynical.

Jim Neilly and Adam Smith are clearly the worst, Duke always seems too get stick but I like him Woodhall used to be a bit wooden and Neilly dragged him down, but he has developed well and is one of the better ones out there, Ritchie really does know his stuff.

If it's "OKay Jim", that's Harold Lederman. Having said that, Max Kellerman has scored fights for HBO in the distant past (and has a squeaky version of Teddy Atlas's voice).

Mentioned above: Teddy Atlas. He's probably thought of as normal in America, but has he ever given credit to a boxer or smiled?

I did think about Sugar, but I'd put him down as journalist. Not an analyst.

I miss Harry Carpenter. Like watching boxing with your Grandad.

Always good to see him on ESPN Classics.

Nicky Piper is the worst, cant stand him, followed by Duke McKenzie. Ritchie Woodhall I dont mind but wish he would commit himself more. The best has to be Jim Watt and Hatton is very good on the odd occasions he is asked into the studio. Johnny Nelson isnt bad either. Reg Gutteridge was the master, Rawlings is poor by his standards.

My all time favourite has to be Harry Carpenter boxings Murray Walker. Knowledge and a perfect voice combined. He had the ability to make a boring fight almost exciting. For many a year he was the voice of boxing.

I always liked Al Bernstein, Reg could be annoying but was always fair, as is Jim Watt. Ian Darke is fantastic.

John Rawlings is the worst by miles, followed by Sheridan.

Rawlings is smug, very biased and they always pair him up with a tool as well, usually Duke. I agree with James about McGuigan, overrated fighter and vastly overrated commentator...

I put him in based on him being used as an analyst on those ESPN classics "Ringside" shows and other boxing related shows.

He is the very picture of style over substance.

I remember him telling me that David Haye did not have a prayer against Enzo Maccarinelli at a lunch in Manchester once - when I had the audacity to disagree - you could almost see his mind doing overtime!!!

Holdsworth for me is the worst. I used to really like Holdsworth's commentary about 5-6 years ago. He used to just say it how he is. Now, he seems more interested in finding a lookalike for the fighter and his ability to read a fight is terrible. Chagaev vs Valuev being the worst I have seen him commentary.

Bunce also - very hard to know if he is taking the piss or not, loves to be the big I am, loves to name drop and because he is so loud it is hard to know when he is being straight up or sarky. Seems to be more interesting in the periphery details - ike an example of a bunce esque bit of analysis - "Calzaghe was brilliant vs Lacy, on a cold dark march night up in Manchester of all place, it was really cold major snow showers the week before in March".

Great for stuff like the Games show he does for Channel 4 - we all know thats a piss take and he is brilliant at taking the piss, as he is in the celebrity boxing thing. When it comes though to serious fights, I don't want to be listening to a person - who at least gives the impression - he is taking the piss.

Having said that, I don't know if it was because he isn't as close (I don't think) to Barry as he is to his mucka Richie Woodhall - but he was much better for the Hopkins vs Joe fight.

More of Bob Mee and more of Jim Watt please.

Don't mind Adam Smith. Always felt Sky have a very high standard of broadcasting even if their choice of fights is relatively watered down (or feels so).
