Thought Akaba started well in the 11th and did pretty well apart from the last 15 seconds.

Surely the home advantage will bring Truscott home with a narrow points win?

He has impressed me tonight. More physically mature then I thought he was to be honest.

He is a cracking fighter all right - not just cute moves but heart and toughness to go with it.

Truscott takes a big 12th. Wouldn't argue with T by 1 point but I smell a draw.

A was throwing all the accurate shots early in the 11th but did nothing else rest of the rd and T closed that rd strong. Tempted to make the 11th level, meaning T by 1.

Brilliant showing from a young prospect- always rated Truscott & fantastic to see him do well.

Great win. 2 year pro, 11 fights, does 12 rds and beats a classy African. How good can Paul be?

Sure, he got the guy at the right time. In the right place. But this is how it should be done over here. A hard opponent who makes you concentrate all the way.

Made up for him. Pal of mine. Would have been there tonight but am babysitting. Glad like as I cleaned up on the betting. Trussy 5/2 at one stage and 10/11 at the death. He's a class act but with limited power. Game as a pebble and I hope he pushes on from this as he's a sound lad as well.

Not agree with you. The African wasn't so classy. He didn't breath on Paul's neck entire fight, he presses for 30 seconds, then stand on the center of the ring waiting. With his height disadvantage and more power in his hands he must be pressing entire match. Paul's shots didn't hurt African. I don;t think Paul Truscott will have any chance against a fighter, who may presure. I like only Truscott's right streight, his body shots were awful. He must improve a lot, but if we take in summit, that it's first 12-th rounder, fighting first fighter with some nice record behind his back, it's B performance for Boro's

Yeah - I'd look forward to that more than Fewkes vs Murray or Smith vs Barker.

I'd favour Appleby I think - depends if he gets past Simpson or not.

I thought it was an excellent performance.

The body shots might be why Akaba didn't press consistently.

It's hard to fight a southpaw, especially a good one. Truscott delivered the goods. What impressed me was that when he had bad rounds he went out and had a better round the next time. Truscott looked good last night - winning a competitive bout - but he is much better than he looked last night. Perhaps because of his lack of power, Truscott has to box well all the time and maintain a high level of concentration.

Against an orthodox fighter who pressures he will be a lot better. Massive result, the Commonwealth title can bring Truscott some great learning fights and hopefuly he'll advance to Euro and world title fights.

Can Truscott be the Brit to beat Jackson Asiku I wonder?

Seems like they will go their seperate ways. I mean Truscott's just had his big test and won his first proper title. Appleby's got his test v Simpson for the British. These lads are being moved well and I think it could be bad news to match them vs each other when they both have potential to one day crack the featherweight top 10.
