I don't think Witter was that motivated about the fight before.

He will be bothered now and if he were to lose this, thats the end of him.

To be fair DG, he had everything in the fight last night to be motivated.

Let's be honest ,Bradley wasn't that great, he looked quite small in there, and played out a very basic strategy which Witter nor his corner had an answer too.

I think more importantly though is Witter showed signs of being worn - No amount of motivation will fix that problem, and that's the biggest problem.

Lynes may (or may not) have wanted Witter again, but you can bet he'd have wanted it for a world title shot. And I think I heard that Lynes wanted Malingaggi or was it Kotelnik. Witter may want Lynes but there's no reason why Lynes should want Witter, not now.

I agree with you - but I don't think he has one back far enough for Lynes to get the better of him....yet!

If last night was the best Witter can do, he is finished.

Bradley, after watching the fight again, was just a raw strong little guy, looked like a pumped up lightweight and was made for the uppercut.

Witter was awful.

Wouldn't mind Lynes challening Bradley.

Colin could treach the lil Yank a thing or two with that lovely jab. Maybe not enough to win, but enough to make a fight of it. And that's part of what it's all about.

He might not want it, but if he retains, Witter is his mandatory.

Bradley had a very fast jab early on - he kept punching Witter in the chest with it.

Bradley would be too much for Lynes, imo.

The Hatton situation was much worse. He VACATED the title to dodge Witter and got the belt anyway.

As they say in the gangster films

'hey- whats right is right'!

Witter deserved his Lonsdale belt - Hatton did not.

Witter should go the European route and then see what happens, bt it is not an wasy route back for him unless HATTON now fights him because he thinks Witter is finished.

:D
Hatton paid for his belt.

NO-ONE... THE BBBoC made an eliminator... unfortunately the man who won the eliminator was then deemed UNWORTHY to fight Witter by the BBBoC - he was willing to fight Witter - so instead Witter was given the belt and also given the distinction of being "awarded" it outright.

Didn't Hatton just flat out buy the thing and never be down in the record books as a fighter who WON the belt outright? If I am wrong, then that too was a disgrace - but to say no-one would fight Witter at domestic level is wrong to and the fact the BBBoC made an eliminator and then declared it void - flat out stank.

Stu,

What s worse.

1) No one bein g good enough to fight Witter.

2) No one wanting to fight Witter.

3) Fwank Waren giving the elt to Hatton as a last ditch attempt to get Hatton to re-sigh with him.

FACT.

Warren gave the belt to Hatton.

Not the latter - Thanks for the belt Frank, sorry I am still not signing - nowt wrong with Ricky accepting a present.

What truly stank in my view - is that the BBBoC MADE an eliminator fight... Bosworth against Gavin Down - all that rigmoral to get that fight wins... the unfashionable Bosworth wins and then the BBBoC pulled the plug on his attempt.

To top it off - Bosworth then beats the then #4 ranked Light Welter - and the number #1 non European class Light Welter - and he still isn't deemed worthy.

If Bosworth wasn't deemed good enough - then why bother putting him in an eliminator fight.

You saying Bosworth wouldn't have wanted another crack at the title?

It stank.

As long as it is not in the record books then HATTONS gift is ok, but he did not win it so it should not be listed as a REAL Lonsdale belt holder..

Bosworth would have been knocked out but he should have had his chance.

Junior Witter has vowed to carry on boxing despite his light-welterweight title defeat to American Timothy Bradley at the Nottingham Arena on Saturday night.

Witter's points defeat to Bradley ended any faint hopes the 34-year-old had of securing a domestic super-fight with Ricky Hatton.

Despite the setback, 'The Hitter' insists he has no qualms about the hard road ahead which will include a mandatory shot at the European title contested between Giuseppe Lauri and Londoner Colin Lynes in Turin next week.

Witter said: "There is no way I am retiring after that. I will go for the European title and come back that way.

"I have no doubts I will get back to the top and reclaim my title."

Damning review

The split decision defeat was hard for Witter to take, but the decisive moment came in the sixth round when Bradley caught the Bradford-born boxer off guard and he was forced onto the canvas.

The victory extended Bradley's unbeaten record to 22 fights, and Witter's trainer Brendan Ingle gave a damning review in the aftermath of the fight by claiming his fighter produced his worst display to date.

"That was the worst I've seen from Junior tonight," he said. "He never got going and I would say he was only 50 per cent out there.

"But we won't give up and we'll come back the hard way. If that means fighting for the European title or even the British belt then that's what we'll do. You haven't seen the last of Junior.

"Remember he fought a very good unbeaten fighter, got back up after a heavy knockdown and only lost by a single point. But I cannot dispute the verdict, even though I think I a draw might have been more fair."

Two of the three ringside judges rewarded the American's greater work rate with 115-113, 114-113 decisions with the third adjudging it 115-112 to Witter.

If Gavin Rees can get a crack at the "world" crown and Lovemore Ndou can get a nonsensical rematch with Malignaggi after being outclassed in the first fight then i think Witter can get himself back in the mix somewhere.

Think Ndou had a rematch clause.

Witter looked out of sorts before the fight had started, I'm inclined to think that this was moreso a negative performance from Witter rather than a reflection of age or quality of opponent.

It's typical. His luck. He blows hot, and then cold. I think his biggest weakness has always been the mental side of things and freeing himself up to fight as sharply as he's capable of.

I think we'll see him come back strongly, literally blasting out whoever's obliged to fight him, he'll get the rematch (or shot at whoever's beaten Bradley) and get his title back. I just think he's built that way, it's easier to shake away demons when noone expects you to perform.

Witter doesnt have off nights, thats an excuse, he just cannot cope with certain styles, Bradley and Lynes are two that know how to beat him. Colin is a better fighter now and beats him in a rematch...as long as he takes care of Branco on friday. Im going to Turin. COME ON LYNO!

I'm looking forward to this one and know Colin can win it. I'm just worried he might get jobbed over there.

I agree on Bosworth - not suggesting for a minute he would have won... but why involve him in the eliminator scene... that happend twice to him also (the other time at Welter after beating Matthew Hatton).

I don't believe Hatton's gift is being credited as a outright winner of the Lonsdale belt... of course he did win the belt, but not outright. It is simply like me buying one of Henry Coopers' belt.

Witter I think is down as a winner of the belt outright.
