I think up until the Chavez-Taylor fight he was looked upon as the best ref in the sport.As someone said his career is defined by the controversial stoppage and as someone else said when the fight is about the ref and not the fighters something is wrong.
As Larry Merchant said I think Richard Steele made a mistake.I was and am a huge Chavez fan but Taylor deserved to try to finish the fight or be KO'd,even not knowing how much time was left.Yes he was very hurt and quite possibly done but many others have been too and weren't apparently on their way to beating the undefeated #1 P4P fighter.Even if he was knocked down earlier in the round I feel he deserved the opportunity to finish or get finished,especially in the last round.
