Dioufy wrote:You're wrong. I know for a fact that Hatton wanted Mayweather at 140lbs after he beat Kostya and he said as much in his book - I dare you to find me a link that says he "wasn't ready" for Mayweather then. And you talk about Urkal and Corley as if they are Gods. I wouldn't be surprised to see Hatton turn down Urkal in the slightest because he was shit and he lost all his big fights (who also never held a world-title), and like I say, Corley has been crap for a good few years now.
You try to demean Hatton by saying he fought past-it fighters. But you could theoretically find fault with anyone's resume if you tried hard enough. For example I like Cotto a lot but I will show you how easy it is to break up someone like you do. He beat Quintana who is horrendously one-dimensional, he beat Malignaggi only just, despite being nearly 12lbs heavier than Paulie (and still struggled a bit), he then beat a waaaaay past it Judah who hadn't fought for a year (an was hurt big), then he beat another past his prime fighter in Mosley (and nearly got beat) who was 36 and then he fought a reality show star in Gomez.
You can rip up anyone's CV if you really wanted to, but you seem to focus on Hatton's only and it's pathetic because he is a nice, down-to-earth and talented young man. I agree he could've theoretically fought better opponents but you can say that about anyone or any fighter. I suggest to you is if you hate him or dislike his career then ignore him like I do with Junior. However everytime I read a post on here you're banging on about the same crap and use no PROOF whatsoever in your post.
Now, find me where Hatton said he wasn't ready for Mayweather, Mr. Hatton Hater.
You are so deluded. Hatton turned down Mayweather several times and many on this forum read it at the time.
The point is, what kind of fighter do you want!!!
I want too see a fighter who fights the best available!
Hatton best wins are against well past their best fighters, KT and Castillo.
So, it said so in Hattons book? what did you expect from Hatton?
Cotto beat SSM and Judah, both would mash down Hatton.
It said so in his book? give me strength!

So you're taking something wrote on a forum over his own word? And you say give you strength? It's simple you don't like him, we get it, now shut up and find someone else to hate because this forum is getting tedious with the same shit, different day philosophy you have.
I want my fighter to take on the best available fighters but it isn't always possible, so when my fighter does fight I expect there to be something on the line like a world title. I also want my fighter to unify the division instead of sitting on one belt. I would also like for them to have a nice aggressive style with a decent punch and for them to cross the pond and make it in America and different countries. I believe as a world champion they should travel sometimes like Kostya Tyszu once said. But I understand that we don't live in a perfect world so I guess the latter part of this post if futile because we will never get the perfect, fights-the-best-all-the-time boxer, ever.

Just for you Doufus!
Hatton admits he turned down the fight 3 years ago - but does not state why.
It was because he was not ready!!!!
I know I am right, but I will say this, HE IS NOT THE KIND OF FIGHTER I WANT. A CHANCE TO FIGHT THE P4P KING AND HE SAID NO! NO MATTER WHAT YOU SAY, HE SAID...tell him Amy Winehouse!
Did Hatton turn down P B F Fight, he did, he said NO, NO, NO!

Not really, because I specifically asked for you to proved a link that said Hatton "wasn't ready" and he could've turned him down for a number of reasons, money, venue, weight, ect, ect. And obviously he's going to feel more confident after he beat Kostya because that's normal. Again, you argued that Hatton wasn't ready but then you try to prove something else - I never disputed that Hatton turned him down, just the reasons as to why. And you nor me can be 100% of the reasons, or can you?

Actually I'll tell what kind of boxer we're looking for, a Roberto Duran type fighter - a snarling psychopath who loves nothing more than brutally tearing his opponents to pieces.

What i dont get is whats so disgraceful about not taking a fight before he felt ready?
What sort of berk would have taken the fight 3 years ago for umm £750,000 when he could get 20 mil by biding his time and building it up.
Witter gets what? £50,000 a fight?
Yeah, Hatton sucks....

So you would accept £750k instead of waiting a few years and collecting nearly £20m for the same job?

Also, answer my question about the weight!

He was right to wait and it's paid dividends in the end - he would make a better business man than you for sure. And that's not even the point, the point is that not one of us knows why Hatton turned him down. Perhaps he didn't feel it was the right time, perhaps it was the venue, perhaps it was the weight, perhaps it was the money, perhaps it was whatever reason. No one knows, so stop acting like you do know because you clearly don't. I wouldn't be surprised to find out you make half this crap up just to justify what you say.

Answer this!
Did it mention in HATTONS BOOK he turned down the fight? contradicts what you said earlier, doesn't it!
Also, answer the weight question!
End of the day, Hatton is not my kind of fighter!
Stop stalking me!
I will only respond to you once you answer my questions!
And WE all know Hatton was not ready - I will not search the net to find it, he wasn't ready in 2007 neither!

I actually wrote this. And before Kostya could you blame Hatton for not wanting Mayweather if that was the case? He hadn't had a win over a great fighter then, nevermind an actual great. But after Kostya he wanted Mayweather because he might've had self-confidence and his stock was a lot higher, especially when he KO'ed Castillo as well (prime or not - that guy had never failed to beat the count before Hatton). I don't understand your point, because I didn't dispute that Hatton turned down Floyd after the Kostya fight.
And what weight question? Ask it again and you shall get an answer.

someone suggests a Roberto Duran type and there seems to be a few for Nigel Benn.
Mix them together and i think you get a Iran Barkley type figure.
maybe this is the typical fighter we are looking for.

Explain this to me, please.
If you walk around at a heavier weight than someone, if you outweigh them on the night and are actually in shape, If you weigh more than someone when you are at lt welter and step in the ring at 11st 2 and they weigh in at 10st 7ls & lbs and fight at 10st 10lbs - are you bigger or smaller? Please explain
And How does that mean you are 'really' moving up a weight?
Hatto makes a song and dance about 'moving up'

Just to chime in the Mayweather fight was first offered to Hatton in 2004 as Mayweathers first at 140. It was then offered several times in 2005 after both won belts, Mayweather wanted Hatton or Cotto for his November 2005 date. Hatton was quoted as saying he wasn't ready yet. Mayweather again wanted Hatton after Judah ballsed up the Baldomir fight. Mayweather said the Hattons wanted the fight at 147 to keep hold of the 140lb ring championship. Ray Hatton himself said they turned the fight down 5 times. Boxingchat has said similar things to my recollection

Hatton did move up in weight and him having a massive weight advantage is important to his performances. He's always outweighed his opponents and that's always benefited him - if Hatton vs. Floyd was ever made at 140lbs, I would imagine that Floyd would come in at about 145lbs and Hatton would come in at about 155lbs (I'm not quite sure how much Hatton weighs on the night when he fights at light welter). I believe that 10lbs difference would've made a difference rather than the 6lbs difference - he still would've lost but he would've been able to push Floyd back easier and it would've been more competitive. It's also the first time that someone has probably weighed in more than him and been natural at the weight-in without the struggle apart from Collazo - that's also probably had a psychological edge to it as well, because Hatton's used to being the naturally bigger man by about 10lbs-15lbs on fight night.
And I don't believe for one second that Hatton has been quoted as saying that he wasn't ready after he beat Kostya. It's understandable if he said that before he beat Zoo and I never disputed that but I'm sure he's not said it after that fight.
I'm going to leave it at that now because DG and I will argue forever over this. I'm an Hatton fan, a big one, and I do see major weaknesses in his fighting now and I also understand the blatant dodging over Junior but come on, he's achieved such a lot. I'm not saying that you should like him but stop spouting your crap and wrong justifications of why Hatton is so wrong for British boxing. He's a two-weight world champion and a numerous belt-holder at 140lbs, with him taking on another belt-holder and who most people seem to think is number two at light welter in Malignaggi. And he's fighting away from home, so let's get behind our boy and hope he beats that horrendously overrated Yank in Paulie. I will bid you a farewell now because I have a life and if I get distracted at work tomorrow then my boss will sack me and then I won't be heading off to the Garden to see our boy win another world-title.

Dioufy. Your explanation about hatton makes it sound like he is a bully. The guy is basically a bully and that is not the kind of fighter I want. Also read P. Nutritions post just before your post. Hatton turned him down for the reason I stated. Its the truth!

He is a bully in the ring, I think everyone would agree on that. Although I need proof to believe that Hatton "wasn't ready" for Mayweather after he fought Kostya.
