Awful fight, I had Appeby by two points I guess but its only for throwing punches, he couldn't hit a barn door, while Simpson wasn't helped by his corner's or his own lack of urgency, telling him he was ahead when he really wasn't at all. Appleby has found his level, and the best he can aspire to is being something akin to Jon Thaxton, cusp of european.
As for going places and needing more polish, sadly you can't polish a turd, and Appleby stinks.

I had it Appleby by 1, I had a toilet break for the KD - was it a legit one, the replays didn't convince me. That of course won it for Appleby, and I think it cost Simpson a draw (cause I am sure two cards had it 114-115).

I thought it was an excellent fight - I would love to see a rematch.
You are quite right about the scores Stu. I thought the KD was legit, Simpson was hit on the temple but not hurt. Appleby was lucky therefore to get the decision because without the KD it would have been a draw.

Appleby fought his usual fight and as always takes a few to land a few. Good little fighter without a doubt but I just cant see him going further than Euro. I know he is still very young and learning the game but I dont think his style will change much and sooner or later he is going to walk onto a big one. He will of course improve with experiance and you certainly cant fault him for bravery and willingness to fight. As champion he now has to defend his title rather than have learning fights that prepare you for a title. With just a dozen fights behind him he will find it hard, I think, to keep the title, especially if he has a rematch with Simpson. Just a bit too early I think to be the man everybody in the division wants to fight for the title.
